2023.05.29 18:34 Frank_Leroux Molossus, Chapter Fourteen

First Chapter
Chapter Thirteen
Corporal McCoy had figured out the best reason for getting in good with an udhyr. They had four arms, therefore the hugs were twice as nice. They now lay in her room, with him lying on her bed and her lying on top of him, with her ensconced in the aforementioned hug-squared. She’d been able to get ahold of her Switch, and at the moment was in the midst of some happy early-morning gaming. Takh’s head rested upon hers with a gentle and welcome pressure while he watched her play. By now she was so used to him that even the little random clicks of his mandibles didn’t cause her any fear.
She was still trying to figure out if she and the alien XO were an ‘item’ or not. Zawahir had, with his usual enthusiasm, explained to her that both the udhyr and knuall-toua were pretty much like humans, with equal numbers of both males and females who reproduced sexually. He hadn’t gone into details on how exactly Tab A fit into Slot B, but the overall idea was clear. The auhn were a little more complicated; the ratio of females to males was more like seven or eight to one, plus there was the added wrinkle that the males were non-sapient and about as smart as the average pet dog. That had resulted in a very matriarchal society, of course, one based around clans of females protecting their stable of fertile males with appropriately auhn-like ferocity. The spider-like xyrax were…well, both. Completely hermaphroditic; there was quite a complicated social dance before they reproduced as to who was going to bear the resulting egg. McCoy was sure that, however it worked out, it would look adorable.
“So this Kirby can eat anything?” asked Takh, breaking into her ruminations.
McCoy tapped at her controls on autopilot, hoping that the damned thumbsticks wouldn’t break. Again. “Yep. Fun fact, waaay back in the 80s, Nintendo got sued by Universal Studios, who claimed that Donkey Kong was a ripoff of King Kong. John Kirby was the attorney who successfully defended them in court, and in gratitude they named this character Kirby.” She continued her tapping. “I think they gave him a sailboat as well.”
“Mmm, I must admit a sailboat sounds nice right about now. This place is very nice, but it’s a bit too cold.”
She wriggled against him. “You said it. You and me, off the coast near Nice? Floating in the warm azure waters of the Mediterranean? I can wear a nice little bikini I’ve got saved up for just such an occasion.”
“Oh! Uh, well, yes. That does indeed sound quite nice…”
She grinned. Takh was a dork, but a giant lovable dork and it was always great to get a reaction like this out of him. Even if it didn’t lead anywhere there. As far as she knew, the udhyr reproduced like frogs. Maybe she should discreetly quiz Zawahir on the whole Tab-A into Slot-B thing, just to make sure she wasn’t setting herself up for disappointment.
Of course, she’d just managed to get to the final boss of this particular level when the siren howl of the alarm went off. Haley McCoy blinked as she went from supine four-armed cuddling to standing in an instant, placed upon the floor by Takh’s upper arms.
“The unholy hell?” she muttered, but she was already in motion as she sprinted towards her gear, laid out so as to ensure maximum efficiency in getting it all put on. “Takh?” she called out as she started strapping her armored vest on.
“Yes? What do I do?”
“Simple. Anyone comes through that door who you don’t recognize, kill ‘em.”
“I…I don’t know, I’m still understanding how different humans look from each other, I don’t want to make a mistake.”
“You’ll know,” she said with finality as she picked up her carbine and racked the slide. “Okay. Follow me…”
The door to her room smashed in as a figure clad in black armor came through screaming “Earth belongs to HUMANS!...”
That was all he got out before Takh grabbed the man’s head and simply hurled the offending figure over McCoy and into the far wall. The window set in that wall shattered with the resulting impact, making the corporal duck.
“Fuck me, Takh.” She looked at the broken figure of the oh-so-very dead intruder, then back up to the worried-looking XO. “I mean, not literally. Okay, well you can if you want to, and I for sure would like you to…you know what? Let’s put that whole discussion off to the side for now until we can sit down and have ourselves a nice long chat, okay?”
“That sounds like a very wise strategy, Haley. What do you need from me?”
She finished putting on her headset and helmet. “Right now? You need to stick right behind me while I get you to the bunker.”
“You want me behind you?” Takh’s mandibles quirked in a grin. “That sounds like a very nice place to be.”
“Stop distracting me, you giant dork.” McCoy moved towards the door with a grim set to her shoulders, ignoring the lovely fact that her alien maybe-boyfriend was now checking out her ass. She swept the outside hallway….nothing visible. Then she heard some commotion from off towards the kitchen area.
__________
Martinez surged to his feet upon hearing the alarm, his half-eaten horizontal-cut pimento sandwich now forgotten. “What the fuck…?”
Matt was on his feet as well, with a strange look in his eyes that the corporal had never seen before. “You two. Corner. Now.” He pointed at the corner farthest from the two entrances to the kitchen.
The corporal was on the smaller side, even amongst his fellow humans, but something in the Marine’s tone made him turn and tackle the huge alien. Kexal, to his credit, somehow knew that Something Was Up and accepted the tackle, otherwise there was no way in hell that Martinez could have moved the giant creature.
Just as he did so, he caught a glimpse of a dark form, clad in full armor, holding a rifle, gliding around one of the entrances to the kitchen. In a panic, he fumbled for the pistol at his hip.
Martinez prized himself on his reflexes. But still, he had time for one blink of astonishment as Toke all but teleported himself across the ten feet of intervening space, pushing the intruder’s rifle up towards the ceiling and out of battery as his own arm flashed in a wicked arc. The corporal caught the merest glint of a small but cruelly-curved knife, like a predator’s claw, in the Marine’s fist.
There followed quite the epic spray of blood from underneath the attacker’s armpit, followed up by a few more cruel swipes which made sure that the tendons in that shoulder were destroyed and useless. Toke pulled the rifle away from the now-dangling limb.
Somehow, the black-armored attacker managed to speak in spite of what must be massive pain. “Earth will NEVER submit to…”
Toke’s voice was as hard as granite. “Tell your shit to someone who cares.”
Two more vicious swipes across the man’s throat resulted in a cascade of crimson down his black-armored front, and the would-be assassin toppled to the wooden floor.
“Martinez.” Toke’s robotic voice shocked him back into awareness.
“Y…yeah?”
“Got a pistol?”
“Of course.” He checked to make sure that he had it in his hand. Huh, that was strange. He didn’t remember drawing it, but there it was.
“Good.” The lean man tossed the purloined rifle towards Martinez, who caught it automatically in his off-hand. “Take this. Check this dead motherfucker for extra mags, and take ‘em. You’re on Kexal, understand? Get him safe to the bunker. Anyone you don’t know personally comes at you, you shoot ‘em.” His black, mechanical gaze shifted towards the alien. “Kexal? If Martinez goes down and someone attacks you, you have my permission to yank their arms off.”
The giant planetologist stared in horror at the bleeding and probably-dead sapient before him, then shook himself. “Of course. Yes. I’ll protect myself.”
“No need,” said Martinez as he looked back at his newly-christened charge. He racked the action on his just-acquired rifle, which looked to be a standard AR-platform civilian carbine. The corporal wished for something full-auto, but this was at least better than a pistol in terms of range and punch. “I’ll get you to safety, sir.”
He turned back to ask Matt just what the fuck was going on…but he only saw empty air.
__________
Cécile Savoie was not having a good day. She’d accepted the position of overall chief of security at Camp David with delight…at first. Dealing with the day-to-day of protecting one of the most targeted people on the planet, that she could deal with no problem. Because it was one person. It was an unspoken agreement between all of the agents that SAILOR was the priority. Even the First Husband could be sacrificed if need be.
But then she’d had a bunch of damn aliens dropped in her lap, along with an equally weird group of special-forces types. The latter were what really ground her gears; the aliens were genuinely nice and apologetic about being such a bother, but the human soldiers were the types who would crash on your couch, drink all your beer, and then steal your sweetheart when you weren’t looking.
She crouched behind a little berm to the west of Camp David, the other members of her patrol stretched out alongside her in a roughly north-to-south line.
“Moseby! Report!” she yelled.
She heard a few thumps, then a few cracks in her earpiece which were followed up by echoing reports from the building behind her. Thankfully she heard her agent’s voice in her earpiece. “Shit! Wow, um, you’re really good with that knife…”
She then heard a muffled phrase that sounded a bit like ‘give it to me, son’, and the next voice in her ear was one she was unfamiliar with.
“This is Captain Matthew Tocco, USMC, whom am I speaking with?” The voice sounded as if generated by an AI.
“I’m Agent Savoie,” she responded. “I’m in charge of the Camp David security detail, who are you?”
“I just told you who I am, Agent Savoie. And I just saved the life of one of your agents. Now. Let’s cut through any sort of jurisdictional bullshit. We have at least two confirmed active hostiles in the complex, two more are confirmed down. We’re sweeping the compound to make sure there are no others, plus making sure that our esteemed guests are safe inside the bunker. Where are you located? We need to coordinate our defenses.”
The information made her see literal red. The attackers had made it into the compound? How? There must be some angle, some safe passage made by somebody. She was going to find out who had made that safe passage, and those people would burn. Oh yes, they were all going to burn…
“West of the complex,” she snapped. “We’ve set up a perimeter along the ridge there.”
“Got it, Agent Savoie. Oh, and please don’t shoot me when I show up.”
She ran through various scenarios for the next few minutes, trying to figure out who on the team had betrayed them. And there must have been such a betrayal in order to get armed hostiles into the actual buildings. Her further musing upon vengeance was cut short as a tall, lean man seemed to all but materialize next to her. He held a small, curved blade in a reverse grip in his right hand; that blade dripped red blood. She almost pointed her gun at him, then relaxed. “Captain Tocco, I presume?”
“Call me Toke.” The guy sounded like he was out for a day on the beach.
“Who the hell are you…wait, you’re with the group in there, right?”
Matt nodded. “Yep. The rest of us are in there bundling up our guests and making sure they’re all safe and sound. Actually, by now Corporal McCoy should be…”
Agent Savoie flinched again as a small but very stacked woman seemed to suddenly appear like condensing smoke at her other side, out of the brush. “Speak of the Devil, and she shall appear.”
The tall man grinned at her. “You are pretty damn good, corporal.”
“Hell that means a lot coming from you, Toke. By the way, that’s a nice kerambit. Anyways, everybody on Team Alien is tucked in and unharmed. I got Takh in there fine. Martinez even tagged a couple more bad guys while he was escorting Grakosh to the bunker. Fair warning to everybody listening on this channel, he’s gonna be aaaall sorts of smug about that and it’s gonna turn into a story of taking out four dudes before this week is out. But, right now, it looks like only four of the OPFOR made into the complex…however they did that…so the rest must be out there.” She pointed towards the leafless woods beyond the little rise.
“Any word from Shaw?” asked Toke.
Savoie narrowed her eyes. “Something bad happened in DC. Sounds like an artillery or mortar attack.”
“Shit.” McCoy looked troubled. “This is serious business, then. State player?”
“Maybe,” said Toke. “But it could be some private group with some proper funding behind ‘em. Agent Savoie, do you have any word of a helicopter or plane going down nearby?”
“A Chinook,” she replied, “Went down about thirty minutes ago thataways.” She motioned to the west, out into the wintry forest. “Then we had one of our patrols out in that direction go silent. That’s what triggered the alarm.”
Matt grunted. “Yeah, that’s how I’d do it. Make it look like a crash and infiltrate that way. Right.” He touched his ear. “You just keep this channel open, right?”
“Where are you going?” asked McCoy.
“Out there. You need eyes on assholes, and I’m gonna give that to you.”
McCoy tossed him her carbine. “At least have a gun on you, dude.”
He caught it with his off-hand, since his main hand still held the dripping-red kerambit. He grinned at her. “All right. You got a pistol?”
“Of course.” She pulled it out and racked the slide.
He tossed the rifle back to her. “Give me that instead. We’re gonna need to concentrate some proper firepower here. This might be a proper light-infantry invasion in progress. We need to organize ourselves into a skirmish line running along this ridge, south-southwest to north-northeast. Get whoever you can on your team in there out here to bolster our firepower, understand? Dig in.”
“Got it.” The little corporal’s eyes blazed with purpose as she handed her pistol to Matt. “Now go get you some.”
“Believe me, I will.”
Savoie blinked in astonishment as the tall man vanished again.
“Yeah, he kinda does that,” said McCoy. “Dude could give sneaking-around lessons to fucking Batman.” She pulled a map out of one of the pockets on her cargo pants. “Now, Agent Savoie, how many people do we have available? Let’s get ourselves properly set up.”
__________
Wade stepped carefully over a fallen branch, his boots making almost no noise at they met the soft mulch covering the forest floor. From the curt statements in his headset, it sounded like the four heroes who’d been infiltrated into the devil’s nest had been cut down. There was no word yet if any of the alien menace had been eliminated. That was a shame, but hopefully it drew attention away from his own unit. He and his comrades made up the secondary and much more armored thrust, one which not even the vaunted Secret Service could counter. The latter were armored, yes, but only armored against pistols and they only wielded pistols themselves. He and his team had rifles, level-four body armor, helmets, and most importantly proper communications.
A voice crackled in his ear. “Hold position. The security detail is forming into a defensive line. It looks like they know we’re here.”
“Set timer?” Wade whispered into his headset. His team had a set time to accomplish their mission, before the entirety of the United States military-industrial complex landed upon their heads like the proverbial Wrath Of God.
“Yes, set timer. Twenty minutes.”
There was a soft chorus of “Twenty minutes, aye,” in Wade’s ear as he tapped his own smart-watch to start the timer. “Twenty minutes, aye,” he murmured. As he made to step over another downed branch, he paused.
Something was off. He couldn’t say why, but the air itself seemed a little more still than it should be. He turned to his left and saw a blur heading for him…he tried to raise his rifle, but it was too late…
__________
Cécile Savoie’s head snapped up as she heard a few cracks from the treeline which could only be the sound of firearms. “Anyone see anything?” she whispered into her earpiece.
There followed a myriad of “No, ma’ams” in her ear. “Keep a sharp eye,” she murmured. “Don’t fire on anyone not in black. We do have a friendly out there, he’s supposed to be giving us intel…”
Matt’s voice sounded in her ear. “Indeed. Bagged one of ‘em, on the outer edge of the advancing force. Looks like civvie gear, carbine is only semi-auto. This is a well-funded civilian effort, not a state actor.”
She checked her watch. “Got it. Fifteen minutes until we get backup in place, what do you need from us?”
“Hmm, that explains the ‘twenty minutes’ thing. Right, they know they’re on a timetable. You all need to be, and I hate to put it this way, the meat shield. It looks like they’re going for a solid push towards you, no stealth. Fourteen hostiles all told, and if this guy’s gear is any indication they’re all up-armored. Class Four. Center of mass is no good, go for head or limbs.”
Savoie’s mouth was now dry. “Understood.”
“Don’t worry, Agent. I’ll be behind them, and I’ll do what I can to sow some dissention in the ranks.”
__________
“Wade, report!” hissed Horace into his microphone.
No reply.
He took in a breath to issue another demand when a voice sounded in his ear. Horace had once gone swimming in the ocean off of Florida, and had by pure chance come across a great white shark. He still remembered the vacant gaze of the giant predator, who was probably idly wondering if Horace would make a good snack for today.
This voice brought up once again that dread; it was the voice of a pure predator. “Who is this?”
“Who the fuck are you?”
“The one who just took down…Wade, was it?”
“Sidney, get eyes on Wade!”
“Will do…” There followed a long, long silence before that shark-like voice spoke again.
“You just got Sidney killed too, asshole. Care to keep going? I got no problem with that. Or do you all want to call this a day? You can do that too, you know.”
“Everybody down!” Horace snapped before going prone himself. That taunting voice still sounded in his ear.
“Okay, now you’re all down and less of a target. What now, genius? You got…hmmm…about twelve more minutes before all of the backup in the world arrives. And they will find you. You know what? You’d better hope they find you instead of me. Because I give less than two shits about that whole ‘Geneva Convention’ crap.”
“Maintain radio silence,” said Horace, as he tried to wriggle his way forward.
“Oh, you’re still trying, Mister Leader? How cute. Let me put it this way to you fourteen…sorry, thirteen, assholes. You’re done. Nailed. The best you can hope for is to get some lawyers who want to make a name for themselves. Worst case? You get put in a room with me, and if you have any sense in what passes for your brains you will spill your guts. If I’m honest, I kinda hope you put up a brave front and don’t say anything. It’s been a very long time since I got to cut loose. Gotta keep up that certain set of skills, yanno what I mean?”
“Maintain radio silence,” grated Horace, as he continued to wriggle forward.
Then, all of a sudden, he realized he was looking at boots. A pair of boots, planted in front of him like a goddamn World War Two commando movie. He glanced upwards, hoping against hope that it would turn out to be a gag like that one comedy where it was just boots…
No.
It wasn’t just boots.
Horace looked up into a man with the eyes of a shark, as well as the quite threatening muzzle of a pistol.
“Hey there, my Little Buddy-O,” said Matt. “Whatcha doin out here?”
__________
Milton came to with a gasp. “Shaw…”
A gentle hand laid upon his shoulder. “Shh, dear. He’s fine, everyone’s fine.”
He gazed up at the white-tiled ceiling above him. “But…” He turned to look into the face of the one person he loved above all else…well, her and Johnny. “He’s okay?”
“He’ll live. Just like you. You big doofus.” Teresa leaned forward to kiss his forehead. “I saw the footage. You threw yourself at all of those senior citizens, which might just count as assault with a deadly weapon. Then you went and managed to get all the way across the stage towards Sadaf. You really don’t know when to give up, do you?”
“Guess I don’t”, he chuckled, then glanced down at his arm. His former arm. “Whoof. That medic was really quick with the tourniquet, I’ll give him that.”
“With you and with Sergeant Shaw,” said Teresa. By now she was pretty much clambered on top of him, tucking his big head into the nape of her neck; it was his favorite place to be. He inhaled her scent with relish, before suddenly realizing someone was missing.
“Johnny?” he asked.
“Oh, right,” she said, before making an imperious snap of her fingers to someone out of his line of sight…right before a little ball of energy burst its way into his room.
“DADDY!” yelled the little firebrand, before smacking into his side. Milton hugged them both to himself, realizing that, no matter what happened next, he was right now in the best place possible.
“Keep it all down to a dull roar, okay?” said a voice off to his left. A very recognizable voice.
He picked his head up to stare in that direction. “Shaw?”
The sergeant gave him a casual wave from his own hospital bed. “Hey, slick. Good ta see ya up and about.”
Milton grinned. “You too, you old fart.”
“Aw hell, I ain’t that old. So. Just out of curiosity. Did that torniquet on your arm hurt like hell?”
The agent cuddled his son closer. “You better believe it.”
“Okay, got it. Just for reference, if you get one on your leg it also hurts like a motherfu…uh, hurts like crazy.”
Milton winked at Shaw. “Don’t worry, my son has heard worse. Why are you here?”
“They put you both in one room,” said Teresa. “Something about it being easier to guard. There was an assault on Camp David too, from what I’ve heard.”
“What?” Milton tried to pry himself up off of the bed before getting a mutual shove-down from his wife and son.
“Relax, my man,” said Shaw. “Toke was there. He and my peeps took care of it.” The sergeant looked at the acoustic tiles above him. “Gonna have to promote McCoy and Martinez. They both really stepped up to the plate.”
__________
President Correa rubbed at her temple. “This ‘Toke’ is a menace.” She was seated behind the famed ‘Resolute’ desk while still trying to show the appropriate deference to the barrel-chested man in front of her, clad in a crisp dark-blue dress uniform.
“Let’s be fair, ma’am,” replied General De Vries, “He helped this situation become less complicated, not more. None of our alien…refugees? I suppose that’s a good a term as anything. None of them got killed, hell none of them even got injured. We collected the thirteen of those remaining while trying to assault Camp David. Overall we have ten dead, including the four who somehow made it into the complex and the Secret Service patrol. The attackers had top-of-the-line gear, civilian but first-rate.”
She slammed her fists into the desk-top, making a nearby mug filled with coffee jump. “I fucking VACATION there, General! Me and my family, understand?”
“I know, ma’am. Do you want me to do this questioning…properly?”
She somehow picked up what he was putting down. “No. You have my permission to go off the chain.”
“Then consider me and Toke off the chain, ma’am.”
“Wait…you’re going to use him?”
“He has had experience in similar matters, ma’am. If you prefer, I don’t need to use him.”
She shook her head. “No. We need intel, and fast, on how the fuck this happened. Plus not to mention we somehow had an artillery attack in the midst of goddam DC.”
“I cannot speak for the FBI,” said De Vries with deceptive calm. “But believe me, we will find out how this all happened. And it will never happen again, of that you have my solemn word.”
The president slumped in her seat. “What about those injured in the DC attack?”
“It was a precision single artillery strike, ma’am. Probably GPS or maybe laser-guided, we’re still trying to figure out which. If Sergeant Shaw hadn’t intervened as he did, Captain Sadaf would be nothing but pulverized meat right now.”
She looked up at him with a cynical quirk to her eyebrow. “Did his saving her get caught on film?”
“Oh hell yes. Footage from several phones, it’s all gone viral.”
“Good, make sure it continues to go viral. How is Shaw? And Agent…um…sorry, my brain is going twelve different ways…sorry, Agent Milton Vila, right?”
“You are right, ma’am. Both are still in the hospital, but both are stable. Milton lost an arm, and Shaw lost one of his legs below the knee.”
“Fuck.” It was one of the rare times that De Vries had heard the president swear. “Both can be helped with prosthetics, right?”
“Not my area of expertise, ma’am, but yes. They’ll both live, and we’ll make sure they have the very best technology available.”
President Correa suddenly grinned with an expression that the general somehow knew was going to lead to Complications in his near future.
“You mean the best human technology, don’t you?” she asked, with deceptive calm.
“Well…yes, of course. I mean, Zawahir Ibn Harith is still trying to make sense of how the aliens heal themselves. It’s true regeneration, if I understand it right. Damage to the central nervous system is still kind of hard for them to deal with, but otherwise they can pretty much heal anything.”
The president examined her fingernails. “So…growing back a limb or two should be the proverbial walk in the park, yes?”
“Um…” The general’s eyes widened. He now realized why this unassuming lady had won two terms to the highest executive office in his particular country. “Oh, yes! Of course!”
“The plans for repair efforts on the Rithro have costs which are already pretty much alongside the Manhattan Project,” said President Correa. “Why don’t you appoint Zawahir as the lead of this particular effort? We’ll call it Manhattan-Light.” She fixed General De Vries with her eyes. “Imagine it. Two people, grievously wounded in the line of duty while protecting one of our alien refugees, an effort which was caught on multiple cameras…imagine them then walking out onto a stage with intact limbs.”
“It will make quite the photo op, ma’am.”
“Indeed. I’m glad we understand each other, General.”

2023.05.29 18:31 veterangunslinger Brigham Young was a psychopath

So I'm a huge fan of history and being able to discover landmarks and artifacts. Here in Utah there's a mountain called Mt. Timpanogos. Many of folks probably know of it as lots of exmormons in here have been in Utah at one point.
Basically, there was a peaceful group of people living in the plains and wilderness near Timpanogos who were the Timpanogos people. Brigham Young ordered his Mormon Militia to head up there and pretend to be friendly, and then after the the Timpanogos people thought they weren't a threat, Brigham Young then ordered the executive of the entire population. Many of the women and children were actually enslaved as well.
This is something they don't actually tell you when you go do tours and whatnot around the Timpanogos area.
So... I know there's TBM lurking in here. I'm just asking you to please do more research outside of the church resources. Satan does not rule the world and information you find about the past atrocities of Mormons, especially Brigham Young, aren't just slander.
Brigham Young did many other terrible things to non mormon folk that were helpless to do anything about it. Battle creek canyon, which is also near the the Timpanogos wilderness is also another example of peaceful tribes being massacred under the Mormon colonization era.
Also I can provide links, I just didn't know if it was allowed in a post.

2023.05.29 18:22 autotldr Fighting continues in Sudan as week of ceasefire nears its end

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 63%. (I'm a bot)
People said they could hear street battles in northern Khartoum, as well as artillery fire in the south of the city of more than 5 million people, which has been turned into a war zone.
"Intermittent fighting between Sudanese armed forces and Rapid Support Forces in El Fasher, north Darfur over the last few days" had led to civilians being killed, homes getting looted and tens of thousands of people newly displaced in the already war-ravaged region, Harward said.
The persistent fighting has impeded the delivery of essential humanitarian aid, upon which 25 million people - more than half the population - rely to survive, according to the UN. A week ago, representatives of the army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and his former deputy Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, who commands the paramilitary RSF, pledged to pause the incessant airstrikes, artillery fire and street battles in order to allow in much-needed aid and let civilians flee.
Since 15 April, at least 1,800 people have been killed, with more than a million others displaced within Sudan and nearly 350,000 fleeing to other countries.
Sudan's neighbouring countries - many already facing economic crises or mired in instability - fear regional spillover and have pleaded for aid from the UN, itself reporting severe financing gaps.
The Umma party, one of Sudan's main civilian groups, cautioned "Against calls to arm citizens under the pretext of protecting themselves", which it said were "Attempts to drag the country into civil war".

2023.05.29 18:21 Cautious_Post_4910 Trump was a peacetime president! 🕊 He has a proven track record on the national scale and racked up major geopolitical victories.

Trump began peace talks with North Korea which also brought about further developments between the North and South. The South Korean president even said that Trump should win the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts concerning the Korean conflict. https://archive.vn/ugnAW

Trump continuously used sanctions and other economic strategies on enemy countries in order to combat them without having to put America through another war, using military options only for extreme cases. This strategy yielded positive results. The sanctions on Iran were hurting Hezbollah, which was forced to cut some of the benefits that fighters received. Less benefits = less incentives to join the terror group. Less money due to sanctions also means less resources to carry out terrorist attacks. "Benefits for expenses such as meals, gas and transportation have been canceled, according to another Hezbollah insider." The same probably happened to Hamas behind the scenes. https://archive.ph/5hzEK
Signed the Taylor Force Act, which cut some aid to the Palestinian Authority until it ended stipends to terrorists and the families of slain attackers, some of which were responsible for the murder of Americans. https://archive.is/GF7c5
Trump canceled $2B aid to Pakistan where US flags are burned and where Osama was found. The Pakistani intelligence agency has also been known to give covert aid to the Afghan Taliban whose leaders find safety in Pakistan's Quetta province. Additionally, Pakistan fails to crack down on the extremist religious schools which send many Pakistanis to aid the Afghan Taliban every year. Money to Pakistan likely went to the Taliban and other terrorist groups. https://archive.is/dYkHQ

Imposed visa restrictions on Chinese Communist Party officials and others participating in propaganda or influence campaigns affiliated with the Party’s United Front Work Department. The United Front is a CCP spy branch that works on building networks for political influence. It targets the elites (colleges, politicians, journalists, business leaders) who they then invite to China. The spy fundraising for Swalwell and advising him on who to hire as an aid was part of this department. https://archive.is/6nEgt

The less economically able the CCP, the less likely it would stage an invasion of Taiwan. Also, Putin invaded Georgia under Bush, Crimea under Obama, and the entirety of Eastern Ukraine under Biden. He did not invade under Trump. In fact, Trump threatened Putin with bombing Moscow if Putin invaded. Thus, Putin did not invade Ukraine. Meanwhile, Trump worked through other means to cut Russia's ability to stage an attack. Just look at his conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. Trump warned Germany against their oil deals with Russia and the Russian gas pipeline. https://youtu.be/Vpwkdmwui3k
As a deterrence to Russia, the US upgraded Ukrainian ports to fit American warships under Trump. More US troops were sent to Poland in the same year. These strategies worked as Putin did not invade under Trump. https://breakingdefense.com/2019/07/us-upgrading-ukraine-ports-to-fit-american-warships/

2023.05.29 18:20 Filthy-Mammoth [online][Heavily homebrewed 5e][PST] From Humble Farmers to possible War Heroes, will you respond to the Call to arms in the Far Reaches?

So first off, who am I?
Hello Reddit, I am Beau, am a 26 year old Guy from the Pacific northwest that has been DMing DnD 5e for 6 years, has been dabbling in other systems for the last 4, and has had Roleplaying games apart of my entire life thanks to my dad who was a veteran of a hobby since his his days in high school
I have a deep seated love of stories and storytelling, and I have found over the years that TTRPGs are some of the most Primal of storytelling mediums, tapping into the same energy and need for humanity to tell stories that our ancestors did around a campfire for centuries.
Like those ancestors around their campfire, those around the table tell a tale that is a mixing pot of different views and experiences, of yes and and no buts, of tears of both laughter and sorrow, of a connection to a story that only can be made when its your story. And that kind of connection is a powerful thing.
I love this hobby because I love stories and the way they are told, and I hope to at some point create a community of people that share that passion so that I can make many more stories for the years to come.
I know that was a lot, but I hope knowing that about me will help you understand the kind of game I am trying to run.
Next, a intro to the setting and then some info about the campaign:
Farreach is a land cold and unforgiving, those that do not respect it quickly die. be it from man, beast, or nature.
Since the gods died in the event of world’s crux Farreach has, like the rest of the world, been broken apart, small villages and city states dot the land fending for themselves over the years as the ruins of the old world lay lingering as a memory of what once was thousands of years before.
But this is all about to change.
A young man, a Certain Peter Lebedev, has claimed to be the heir to the Throne of the Far Reaches that sits in the ruins of the old capital Alevichi. He shares the name of those once mighty Czars that ruled the land before World Crux, and using it he has called upon ancient rights and Alliances to Take back the old Empire with the help of the Sorcerous Dwarves of Blackspire,
From the Ruins of Alevichi hidden behind the Northern mountains and Dwarven Strongholds of the North Peter plans to retake his birthright, be it through force or diplomacy.
But not all accept his rule.
To the South in the fertile valleys that make many Farmlands sits the city state of Reusta, here a Rebellion is Brewing. a group of like minded people that care not for the idea of being ruled over and wish to keep their independences. While they do not have the resources of the Dwarves they have the food to feed an army and the call of the defense of freedom to rally men behind.
They will push out this so-called Czar and establish an order, a republic, where each town is free to do as they see best for them and not be under the thumb of one man.
And So a civil war brews between these two, the Torm sit to the north watching their southern neighbors fight and the villages between these two factions will be caught in the crossfires.
Including the Town of Whitefield.
It is a simple place, home to only 300 or so souls. fields of white wheat grow in abundance, children play in the streets and elders groan about the on coming cold of the harsh winters. Here is were those that will one day be called great call home. Simple folk that have done little more than live in this blessed place do not realize that soon fate will come marching to their doorstep and call them to greatness.....
So what is Farreach?
Farreach is one place in the homebrew setting of Tanriszdir that I have been working on for the past 3 years. This campaign will be the 2nd campaign I have ran in this setting with many more planned in the future.
I made Farreach as a place due to my love of Folklore and fairy tales and I had been playing the Witcher and looking into the stories and culture of the Slavic people at the time of creation, naturally it bleed into the world I was making.
In farreach you will find Dark Taiga Forests, frost covered mountains and sub-zero tundra. But warmer weather can be found to the south with rolling fields, Marshy bogs and Clay filled hills. Farreach is a harsh but beautiful land that only the strong survive and thrive in, will your character make their mark in this rugged wilderness dotted with small villages? Or will you be lost to the trees and that which lurks within them?
What is this campaign about?
Farreach is a place on the cusp of a massive social and political change, 2 factions, the Empire trying to reform and the independents trying to keep their own freedoms and cultures alive, buttheads as they try to take over the north to shape it in their own image. This story isn't so much about one side vs the other however, yes you can if you want to join one of the sides in the war, or even make your own 3rd faction, this campaign is less about the war itself and more the people being affected by it. The day to day people that have to deal with a war looming over them as they try to etch out a life in a cold unforgiving landscape filled with monsters of all kinds. The players will be starting as level 0 commoners dealing with small scale problems and will find themselves burdened with more and more responsibilities as they prove themselves to be the ones most capable of taking care of the North’s problems.
What are the Players' roles in this campaign?
The players, and the party at large, are Hope. They are hope that things will get better, that life will get just a bit less shitty, that everyone will get to go home to their families at the end of it all.
Because of this I as the DM will test and attempt to snuff out this hope constantly. PCs and NPCs alike can and will die if the dice will it, horrible things will happen to good people, bad people, and neutral people, children are at just as much risk as everyone else. And there will be a give and take of consequences constantly as every action the party, and the NPCs around them take, will mold the world around them for both the better and the worse.
This is not a campaign for the faint of heart, it's not a game of heroes that never fail or who will always win in the end. It's about being the embodiment of hope in a world with very little of it, of never giving up hope while everything around you tries to snuff it out. It's about moving forward no matter what because you have hope that things will turn out well in the end.
I know all that sounds fairly dramatic, but fuck it am a drama queen, it will get you a clue of what your in for if you join the game. That and I've had players I've tried to run this game with before assume that the hardships I would send their way was me just trying to tpk them and wouldn't even try, ironically enough losing hope despite being the ones who were supposed to embody it.
What kind of game is this?
I would say that it is an Open sandbox Dark fantasy, there is some hex crawling and a lot of what direction things go is mostly on the Players and their actions.
Some people would say that my games are Grim Dark, but I'd personally say that Grimdark is a shade too dark for what I try to achieve in my games. That said of course the games I run do get fairly dark and will go places that are uncomfortable at times, make sure you are ok with that if you want to join, and feel free to ask me directly what kind of themes I expect to see
What does this game do different from regular dnd 5e?
My games are heavily homebrewed, to the point I can't put all of the changes here and instead made a doc that I will later link that is full of rule changes and tweaks that I will be using. Consider this less 5e proper and more 5e adjacent
The Party will be starting at level 0 instead of level one as commoners and will have to come into their own (I suggest coming to the table with a couple extra character concepts on the off chance something really bad happens)
This Game will go from level 0 to level 10, maybe 12. This is not a story of high powered super people and is instead made for more down to earth low level characters.
All player characters will start from the same home town and will all know each other to a certain extent, this isn't a group of strangers coming together as it is a group of people that already know each other in at least passing
This Game will be connected to another game I am running, to help simulate the movements of the war around the PCs as they have their adventures I have 2 friends playing a board game of my creation to help give the game a more natural backdrop of events, things will happen that even I the DM can't always expect.
What can I as a Player expect from you, the DM?
A well built world that I have spent years making
A willingness to let things happen that can change the course of the game and the world as a whole moving forward into other campaigns
A genuine interest in telling a story and a desire to see your characters grow over the course of the campaign
Difficult combat, min maxing not required but common sense and tactics are
Difficult choices, this campaign is not a black and white campaign of good vs bad
A sense of humor, life isn't all death and darkness
a rehaul or creations of rules as needed to help tell the kind of stories I aim for.
a willingness to bend to rule and to use the “rule of cool” but still being able to use the rules
What do you as a DM expect from me as a player?
A willingness to take the world seriously
Not poking at the rules of the game to exploit them or disclaim a lack of realism
Respect for me and the other players at the table
To make a character that is grounded in the setting and type of story trying to be told
A willingness to roleplay and to be your character in the world
A willingness to let bad things happen if your actions or the dice lead to an impossible situation
A Willingness to still more forward with the game even as Bad things happen to your character(s)
The Ability to commit to the game long term, my games take time
The Ability to take initiative, taking plot hooks that interest you, or exploring to find others that do (mostly don't stand around waiting for me to tell you what to do)
Am fine with all of this, how do I sign up and when is the game?
The Game will take place Sundays starting the Earliest at 9am pst and going as late as 3:30pm pst, the exact time will be decided once the group is put together but it will be sometime around then
I have 2 people that want to play already and I am looking for a maximum of 4 more players
The Game will take place on roll20, discord and a good mic is required to play
Read this quick Lore Blurb to get a basic understanding of the campaign world and your characters place into it
Setting Primer
Read, or at least skim, through this Document, it is filled with rule changes to the game I am running, these are not minor changes and should not be ignored when deciding if you want to play
Homebrew Doc
Fill out this application, it is a mix of personality test, confirmation that you understand what kind of game your getting into, and information for how to contact you
Application
This Application will be up until the I find players I think I can gel with. Once I have found people I will close the application, if you can enter an application there is still a chance you can get in.

2023.05.29 18:17 Beolena Please spawn more than 2 times.

Please spawn more than 2 times.
Below are basic 5-6 vehicle linups for all nations in order.
These are all tech tree availible vehicles, I do count squadron vehicles as it takes somewhere between 2-4 months, long before the average player will make it to top tier.
The second row of vehicles are alternatives for this slot/role and the second column are 6th+ vehicles, but can also be used in other slots by preference, for Britain if you have the Rooikat 105 that is worth taking, otherwise it might be worth replacing the MTTD with another Challenger (lol), the MTTD is workable but it is pushing it and you might see more consistent success with the extra MBT.
On the topic of aircraft, the first option is usually the better CAS option, while the second option is usually more of an Air-Air option (anti-CAS/heli hunting etc). In the case of China the F5-E is a CAS alternative to allow for more downtier potential.
You may notice that Japan and Israel dont really have SPAA suggestions, this is because stingers really are outclassed at this BR and taking another ground vehicle is simply much more worth, as fun as the japanese gokart is.
These linups can be roughly put into 2.5 groups wherin the relative strengths are pretty equal, with the outcome depending more on the players/teammates.
Strong: America, Germany, Russia, China, Sweden
Useable: Britain, Japan, Italy, France
Israel: Israel
As much as Israel is useable, the lack of versatility in the liunp really hurts it, a combination of the playstyle of their MBTs, the lack of SPAA or light tanks and the middle of the pack CAS options.
Sweden is by far and away the best pure ground linup, some of the best light tanks, The best MBT and some very competetive backup MBTs. Their CAS leaves much to be desired but is also nothing to scoff at.
The award for most varied vehicle options goes to America, with a light tank, wheeled vehicle, IFV and MBT options, all of which are at least useable, though the Bradley is not great.

2023.05.29 18:06 Sarcofago_INRI_1987 If Ethan genuinely thinks Myron is guilty, why does he give Bobby Lee a pass?

Bobby Lee has repeatedly confessed to raping an underage prostitute until she cried while visiting a Tijuana Brothel. He has told this story like a dozen times over a decade and the key details never change.
Ethan thinks Bobby isn't guilty and still considers him a friend. He emphasizes that it can't be proven and was "just a joke"
https://youtube.com/watch?v=hsFVubCwa1Y&feature=share9
Why is ethan so "understanding" when one of his friends confesses to rape and pedophilia? Where is the outrage? Where is the shaming? Suddenly he's applying nuance and saying we can't prove anything.
Ethan needs to get his friend group in order before going on these warpaths. All of his friends get exposed as rapists and/or pedos.
He rarely speaks about the above and in Bobby's case, he claims the rape never occurred.

2023.05.29 18:02 ShadowTechReview Kids Spend Halloween Night In Haunted House

So I read this book somewhere around middle school, remember enjoying it and can’t remember the name for the life of me. I have a very vivid memory of it so no worries if it remains unsolved. Basically it’s about a group of kids who spend the Halloween night breaking into the towns’ haunted house. In the beginning the protagonist (maybe named Sam/Sammy??) is dared to spend the night and he accepts in order to impress his crush (I think named Summer) however she then wants to go. It ends up being Sam, the one who dared him (some sort of bully I think), Summer, and I think sams nerdy friend or something that end up going. They can’t find a way inside so they end up breaking in through a small window. I don’t remember much of what goes on in the middle of the story but I know at the end Sam ends up being possessed by the ghost child that was haunting the house and he messes with Sam by making him jump off the school.

2023.05.29 17:59 Sure-Bat-8367 Girlfriend cheated one month into our relationship but hid it for 7 months. Struggling to move forward with her.

Hey everyone.
I want to say that I realize some of you have marriages that are crumbling, and some of you have children. What you're going through is bigger than what I am, and I don't want to diminish what you're going through. I'm asking advice about my girlfriend, but this is someone whom I was contemplating marrying and having a kid with before this news came out.
I'm really struggling with whether or not this relationship is worth continuing. I want to, but it feels incredibly exhausting. I don't know what feelings I have are valid, invalid, positive or negative. I don't know what is worth talking about with her, and what I need to work on myself, or even - keep to myself. I understand that talking about the affair can send our day or time into a spiral together, so I find myself avoiding talking about it even when it's on my mind. This most certainly impacts the way I show up in the relationship, and she can almost always tell something is wrong because I either get quiet, or try to distance myself for the day. I don't know how to move forward, and I would really like ya'lls opinion or help.
I feel like explaining what happened will better paint a picture.
About eight months ago, I started dating my partner. We had known each other for several years, because we once had worked together. Things were wonderful between us, however I recognize things were moving very quickly. I had recently gotten out of a long term relationship when I started dating my girlfriend, so I hadn't exactly had the time and space to heal from that. I found the momentum of my new relationship take over and I found myself trying to seek a commitment with her, possibly in order to lock her down/ "make her my girlfriend". I recognize now, that this was a mistake.
She explained that she had a trip planned roughly a month away to go across the country to visit a FWB (lets call him Matt) that she had attended concerts with, and that she didn't feel like being in a relationship at the time was something she wanted. Initially, I was understanding of this and wanted to respect this. As I mentioned before, things between the two of us were moving very quickly. Even though we weren't "committed" to each other, neither of us were actively dating anybody else and would gush over each othetell each other we loved each other. Things felt wonderful, but in the back of my mind - the idea of the looming trip lingered.
I expressed to her that because she had the trip planned, I thought it best to reel things back and just be friends. I didn't want to risk heartbreak because I knew the odds of something happening would be extremely high. She understood this, but we would both go back and forth about continuing to see and spend time with each other. It was hard to stay away, because of our love/infatuation. We would discuss not spending time with each other until after she gets back, and then one of us would get weak and seek each other out.
After this continued for roughly 3 weeks, (trip is roughly 1 week out at this point), I asked her if she would cancel her trip and flight and explore the possibility of "us" and what we could be. She was unwilling to do this, and said that she "needed to close this chapter out" before moving forward with me. I remember speaking to my therapist at the time, and she said that it sounds like she "wants her pie and to eat it too". Anyways, I came to accept that she was going - that was that and there wasn't anything I could do about it other than learn to be okay with it.
I changed positions and accepted that she was going, however I said "I realize that you want to go on this trip, but just because you're going doesn't mean you have to be physical with this person". Initially, she was trying to defend leaving the possibility of something physical happening, to which I explained I didn't understand given how we said we felt about each other. After discussing things for awhile, she told me that she agreed that she would be monogamous with me, and I to her - and that nothing would happen on her trip. She even went as far as contacting the guy she was going to visit and telling him about me, and how we're exclusive and that she wants him to respect that boundary when she comes to visit. I feel naive for believing this, now.
Half-way through her trip, she called me early in the morning crying. I asked her if everything was okay. She said "yes I just miss you, and I'm feeling a little homesick". I asked "did anything happen between the two of you"? She replied "No, nothing like that happened.". I told her that I loved her and that I was looking forward to seeing her in a couple of days.
Fast forward to the day she came back - I was excited to see her but I also had a suspicion that something had happened. I chose not to pressure her or ask her again if anything had happened, and chose to move forward in building our relationship. I felt at the time this would show that I was "unbothered" and not insecure.
It's important for me to also state that she continued to have a "platonic" texting friendship with this individual that she saw on her trip. From the time when she came back, until now - I believe she had been keeping things appropriate (for the most part) that I could see.
As the continuing months went on, things over all were going really well. She started inviting me to family gatherings, to meet her friends, going on vacations, and even professed that she wanted to get married to me and have a child together. All of these things made me feel great. I was so happy to hear how much she was into our relationship.
About a month and a half ago, we went to Texas to visit her family. It was overall a great trip. There was eventually a conversation about a big concert that was going to be happening near our hometown this summer, to which I asked her if she wanted to go. She told me "honestly, I think Matt is going to be flying there to see that concert - and out of respect for you and to avoid awkwardness, I don't think I want to go". This initially made me feel good - that she was being respectful of our relationship. I asked her if she thought it would be hard to go with me and see him there - to which she replied "no, I think that it would be totally fine and he would be respectful as he has been of our relationship". She went on to say that "I think that former lovers or partners can be platonic friends and it has to do with being mature enough to handle something like that". I said that I think I can understand where she's coming from, and that as long as "she was honest about nothing happening on the trip, I didn't think it would be a problem either". She replied "no, nothing happened at all". I believed her, again.
About three weeks ago, I had made dinner reservations for us to have a nice meal just for a random occasion. Before the dinner - she told me that she contacted "Matt" and told him that she wouldn't be attending the concert that summer and that she feels out of respect for her and I's relationship they should reel back their communication with each other. That made me happy to hear, as I had cut off almost all the women friends/ex's that I had out of respect for her quite some time ago. The conversation started to spiral at one point, and I began to ask more focused questions around her trip with "Matt". I asked her if he tried to kiss her. She said "no". I then decided to ask about sleeping arrangements. She said that he slept on the couch and she slept in the bed. I asked her "did you two ever share the bed any of the nights?". She was quiet for a second, and then said "yes we shared a bed one of the nights but he slept on his side". I said "did he try to cuddle you at all, or anything like that?" She was quiet for several seconds. I knew then that something had happened. I pressed harder and asked if they had hooked up. She finally admitted that they did.
I felt sick, betrayed, and like a fool. I don't even think what happened was the worst part. I think the fact that she lied for 6+ months about it and tried to sell this as a "purely platonic" friendship was the worst. I demanded to look at her phone. I went through her phone, and saw that they had pretty frequent communication. Nothing seemingly inappropriate, however when I found the texts about this music festival in our hometown this summer she said "you should come!". I asked her what she meant by that, and she said "I just meant he should go, not come with me.". This felt like a BS excuse to me, but she still defends it to this day. I told her that "I cant do this, and we can't have a relationship without trust" and I left.
She sent me texts that night begging for another chance. Telling me she was confused when it happened and she was very sorry. She told me that she felt pressured into a commitment with me and that she felt like she hadn't finished exploring the possibility with this other guy at the time. After thinking about those details, and how great everything else had been between us - I decided to give us another shot.
She has made significant changes that I had never asked for, but I still feel the pain of betrayal every single day. She has blocked his number, and removed and blocked him off all platforms. She turned on tracking on her phone, read receipts, she has thrown away the merchandise she bought on that trip to see "Matt". She has limited her interactions with her male friends as I have expressed that it just looks bad for her to have solo lunches with single male co-workers. She has been overly communicating when she goes on trips with girlfriends to make me feel more secure. I can tell a lot of these adjustments are really weighing on her, and I do feel bad - but it doesn't make my pain go away.
There are days where I feel this nagging, heavy weight on my soul. It's telling me that a relationship this early should not have this much strife. This is too much work, and maybe I should quit. It has turned me into an insecure man, which I was never before. It has me questioning if I can ever trust her again. The biggest problem, is that I love her and I see the potential for our relationship if we can move past this and pretend like it never happened.
Most days, 90%+ of the time I feel like I can show up in a way where it's not impacting me. These days are wonderful. We share so much love, laughs, and connect on so many levels. The days where it's impacting me, I feel like I shutdown. I try to handle the thoughts myself, which she can tell and it ultimately sabotages us, and our day.
I also find smaller issues "triggering" the big thing that happened. A couple examples would be, she said "you really turned a hoe into a housewife" the other day. For whatever reason, this triggered me because in my head I said "why would you even say that?". This ended up in a long heated discussion over that comment because I expressed to her how it triggered me, and how I view her action on her trip as a "hoe" action and I think that was a trigger.
Recently, she planned a river rafting trip with some friends of hers (2 females, 1 single male friend of hers). I wasn't invited to come on the trip, until after someone else decided they wanted to bring their partner. I expressed to her that I felt like I was an afterthought, and the fact that she was going on a rafting trip with a single guy in the group seems like a no brainer to invite your boyfriend to come a long with, especially after what happened and how we're trying to repair us.
I know this is a huge wall of text. I'm sorry, and thank you for reading. I don't know how to move forward. I love her. She was all I wanted, in the beginning. I feel like what happened has changed me for the worse. Am I making this a bigger deal than it should be? I know if I keep going at this rate, I will implode our relationship with my insecurity. If that doesn't happen, then we will both be consistently miserable and then my biggest fear of something happening again will likely come true.
I could really use any advice on this matter, and also if you think my feelings around what happened are valid or if I'm blowing this out of proportion.
Thank you all.

2023.05.29 17:58 Annaclet Gynecological notes: treating chronic candida caused me cystitis, after a few months everything passed.

I leave this page of notes for those who may sooner or later be looking on the subreddit for information on candida, antifungals, and cystitis.

Before PSSD I had never had a single candida episode. After PSSD (can't remember how many months later) I started to suffer from chronic candida with classic symptoms such as vulvar itching, exfoliation and white discharge. I kept it for too many years without treating it. It was not very strong, but it always came back stopping only on menstrual days.
6 months ago I finally had my gynecologist do a vaginal test for mycetes and bacteria and it turned out to be only candida.
Prescription:
The anti-candida effect was rapid. But not many days after starting this triple treatment I started having twinges from my urethra to my bladder at the end of urination, not really painful but annoying (and I was afraid of how strong they would be), and pink discharge in my urine (small traces of blood). Later I started to feel like I had to pee urgently when I didn't or there was very little urine. In short, classic cystitis symptoms that I had never had before.
I searched gynecology groups and found other girls saying that the antifungal cream or antifungal had caused them cystitis!
Fortunately, the problem did not become severe in my case (cystitis can be a hell of a pain from what I heard), and I did not take antibiotics, but it persisted for a few months and I feared that in order to get rid of the candida I had caught another chronic ailment.
When the symptoms had already begun to subside, I also took D-mannose capsules for cystitis. Now for some time I seem to be cured of both candida and cystitis, I hope the candida will not return. On pssd symptoms (only sexual in my case) no change.

2023.05.29 17:58 TallLab1036 An in depth profile of myself.

Hello hello. I hope you enjoy this short introduction of myself.
Some have asked why I've come here to seek this, and really, why are any of us here? We're searching for something that we can't find elsewhere so we've decided to give this a shot.
I've tried other sites without luck and dating is difficult in my area. By that I mean everyone is super country, as in enjoying fishing and listening to country music while complaining about liberals. Or, to phrase it another way - guns, God and Trump. That's a hard pass for me, so this seems like the next step.
A couple of things before I start:
Distance isn't an issue for me. I'm hoping to meet someone and chat to see where things lead, if there's a connection of any sort. If there is, we can move from there. Distance is a relatively small issue if you can find someone who is truly perfect for you, after all.
I should also mention that, for the most part, age isn't an issue. To some extent it will be of course, but I don't mind a bit of an age gap in either direction at all. If it's an issue for you, that's understandable; however, if you think it will be for me, well the only way to really find out is to message me, now isn't it?
I'm open to anyone who sees this and is interested (including those of any experience level) as I don't want to limit myself when I could possibly find chemistry with someone.
Also, while I am in general an emotionally intelligent, nurturing and supportive person, I'm also a massive sadist. To be more specific, I enjoy psychological sadism (although physical sadism is definitely fun too) and that is reflected in my kinks and, to some extent, my personality. While I believe boundaries and limits are to be respected at all times, and I don't enjoy anything if my partner doesn't, I absolutely love teasing, tormenting and torturing my partner in both play and everyday life.
Prepare for a mountain of text! It's a bit long, but I assure you it's worth the read. I decided that since I'm putting myself out there with a post, I want to truly and fully put myself out there and represent myself. I'm hoping that those reading this will recognize the effort that was put into this and get a good feel for who I am as a person. If you feel it's too much, save it for later, skim or even just message me if you would rather get to know me more naturally.
My post is cobbled together from thoughts, beliefs and realizations that I have come upon in my years in the lifestyle (which is why you might see slightly different styles of writing in different parts, this post is taken from my kink profiles and are the sum result of over ten years of experience that I find I still add to every now and then. I try to edit and organize it a bit from time to time, but it's difficult due to the fact that there's so much that I wish to include.)
Long story short, I can be a bit...rambly, sometimes. So apologies in advance for that, although I have recently made great strides in editing my post. So I've got that going for me, which is nice.
While it's certainly a lengthy read, it's not nearly as bad as it seems. I recommend reading the whole thing (obviously since I wrote it), especially if you're interested in getting to know a kinky, geeky and empathetic person.
Now that I've covered that, it's time to get to the part you've been waiting for.

About me:

I decided to put this part first because I believe that, above all else, the people involved should connect on a personal level and "click", if you will. This tells about who I am and my hobbies and such. If someone can't accept this part of me, how could we possibly get along?
I'm a lighthearted, playful and fairly laid back, yet somewhat serious minded, person who's rather upbeat and probably too curious for his own good. I'm also kind, caring, friendly, sometimes cynical and often sarcastic (although in a lighthearted manner, and never at the expense of others.) There's nothing I love to do more than laugh; I love most things involving humor, although I do believe there's a very fine line between hilarity and stupidity.
Now, for some little bits of trivia about me:
  • According to the Myers-Briggs system, I'm an INFP. Online tests can give you an idea of where to start, but they're not that reliable and the results can change depending on your mood that day. To truly discover your type requires self-reflection to learn about your cognitive functions, and while doing so I learned a lot about myself. I don't follow it religiously, but I believe there are some elements of truth to it.
  • I'm definitely a Type B Personality.
  • I'm a hopeless romantic, an old soul who's young at heart, a cynical optimist and a realistic dreamer.
  • I'm definitely that type that believes in better safe than sorry, and one of my mottos is "Hope for the best, prepare for the worst." I also tend to do copious amounts of research before any big decision.
  • I consider myself to be a very grounded, down to earth and genuine person.
  • I'm extremely friendly and believe in treating others with the same respect that you would like to receive and generally try to do what I feel is "right" by others (more on that in a bit.)
  • I like to believe in the best of human nature, although I seem to be let down a fair bit. Even so, I don't want to let that stop me.
  • I have very strong values and ideals, and an even stronger moral compass.
  • I believe people are free to do and believe what they want, so long as they don't harm themselves, harm, cause trouble for or inconvenience others, or attempt to force those beliefs on others.
  • I believe that a life lived for others is the only life worth living.
  • I believe that there's no point in worrying about things that you can't change. If you let yourself get dragged down by it and obsess over it, you'll find yourself crushed under the weight of all the injustices in the world.
  • I've been told (rather often actually) that I have a very nice voice, frequently being told that I should go into radio or be an announcer of some kind. I'm very expressive and my voice reflects that, having lots of highs and lows. Truthfully, I believe it's one of my better features.
  • I much prefer talking to typing in general, especially when first getting to know someone as you get a much better idea of their personality. Also, I feel like I come across kind of...stiff in my writing style when that's very much not me, so voice allows me to showcase my truest self.
  • I tend to be a confidant of sorts; due to my open and genuine nature and what I've been told is a welcoming...aura, I suppose, people tend to find me easy to talk to and trust, coming to me to confide things and seek out advice. This is something that brings me great happiness and pride as having the trust of others is important to me.
  • Promises are very important to me; once I give my word in regards to something I'll keep it, even if I don't particularly want to. As cheesy as it might sound, to me my word is my bond.
  • Admittedly, subtlety is not one of my strong points. I'm a very open, upfront and honest person. I'm terrible at lying (I hate doing it and I just give away that I am) and can't keep a straight face to save my life. If I were an actor, I would probably be Jimmy Fallon.
  • I welcome people to give me constructive criticism and feedback as I'm constantly looking to improve myself. Yes, that even includes those that message me saying my post is far too long.
  • I can't fake a smile to save my life, it has to be genuine for me. One of the many reasons I hate having photos taken of me.
  • I find intelligence, humor and kindness to be the most desirable traits in a partner (although being easy on the eyes doesn't hurt.)
  • My senses are all very sensitive, and can sometimes overwhelm me when I'm introduced to new stimuli.
  • I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to too. Wait, I'm just kidding, just wanted to throw a little Mitch Hedberg in here. I don't drink, smoke or do drugs. While I have no issue with those who drink, I do tend to avoid smokers and hardcore drug users.
  • Despite what the length of my post may say about me, I absolutely hate writing.
  • I enjoy visiting places but hate the actual traveling (which is one of the reasons why if I could have one power it would be teleportation [actually if I could have one power it would be the ability to manipulate space and time, however for simplicity's sake I'm just going to say teleportation for now {not Star Trek teleportation though, fuck that.}])
  • I hate waiting and I hate making others wait.
  • I love the symbolism of trees and what they represent: strength, vitality, protection.
  • If I had to rank the seven deadly sins in the order that I'm guilty of from most to least, it would go: Gluttony, Pride, Sloth, Lust, Envy, Greed and Wrath.
  • If I were to list the Magic the Gathering colors that I most identify with from most to least, it would go: White, Blue, Green, Red and then Black.
  • Growing up I was all about DBZ, Dinosaurs, Gargoyles, Ghostbusters, Ninja Turtles, Pokémon, Power Rangers, Spider-Man & X-Men.
  • I absolutely love animals and have two cats of my own, Ivy and Jasmine (there are wonderful stories behind both names), that I love to death. I probably talk to them like people a bit too much.
  • I spend far more time living in my head than I should.
  • I firmly believe that breakfast offers the best food. I could eat waffles everyday.
  • I call Gatorade by their flavors as opposed to their colors.
  • I absolutely love when I'm thirsty and soda burns my throat.
  • You won't catch me running unless something is chasing me. Partially because I have asthma, but mostly because running is awful.
Over the past several years I've come to appreciate music a lot more than I used to (before it was simply used as background noise as I can't stand silence) and have discovered that I'm a fan of alt-metal, heavy metal and hard rock more than anything else.
Some bands I enjoy include:
Adelitas Way, Amaranthe, Breaking Benjamin, Disturbed, Evans Blue, Five Finger Death Punch, Gemini Syndrome, Otherwise, Pop Evil, Sevendust, Shinedown, Shaman's Harvest, State of Mine, Theory of a Deadman, Three Days Grace (before Adam Gontier left)
I enjoy other types of music as well, for example another band I like is Bowling for Soup as I love their sense of humor; it's great to see people not taking music so seriously. I'm also a fan of big band music, which I actually have Fallout 3 to thank for. I enjoy classical musical as well and, despite having no real knowledge of it and most of it sounding the same, I find it incredibly relaxing and peaceful.
While I enjoy relaxing and watching television, I have trouble watching hour long shows as I can only focus on it for so long before my attention wavers, around that time I start looking at my phone and just waiting for it to be over. It's also why I don't watch too many movies; I need my entertainment bite sized. I'll watch movies every once in a while, but they generally need to be 100 minutes tops (unless it's something I'm super into.).
I have difficulty getting into things that are realistic; they usually need to be fantastical in nature and capture my imagination. My preferred genres are comedy, horror (mainly supernatural, no slashers) and most things involving special powers or abilities, however I can sometimes get into action or drama as well. I also have a love for the world of animation, possibly because they tend to be more creative and aren't limited by reality; it's part of why I'm so partial to anime.
Some shows that I'm fond of are:
Animation: Adventure Time, American Dad, Archer, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Bob's Burgers, Bojack Horseman, [China, IL], Disenchantment, Futurama, HarmonQuest, Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law, King of the Hill, Metalocalypse, Mike Tyson Mysteries, Mr. Pickles, Rick and Morty, Robot Chicken, South Park, Superjail, Ugly Americans, Venture Bros.
Live-action: Arrested Development, Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad, Carnivàle, Dexter, Eureka, Friends, Game of Thrones, The Good Place, House, The Lost Room, Monk, The Muppets (2015 series), The Office, Parks and Rec, Psych, Stargate, Stranger Things, Walking Dead, Warehouse 13, Wilfred
I definitely binge my shows, I like to wait for a season (or preferably an entire series) to be done before I jump into it. I'm also the type that's fine watching something just once. If I ever feel the need to watch it again it will be many, many years later. This extends to games as well, I generally need things with replayability such as MOBA's or Rogue-likes.
Gaming is easily one of my biggest hobbies and has been for many, many years now. I see it as an art form, as a way to tell a story that you can deeply immerse yourself in and get pulled into, something that can captivate you and make you lose all track of time because it's simply so engrossing. It's also a damn good way to have fun and kill time, especially when you're playing with friends. It's a big part of my life and something I have spent quite a bit of time and money on. Some people may be put off by this, but it a part of me that I will not deny or hide; after all, if someone has an issue with that then how compatible could we possibly be?
Some video games that hold a special place in my heart are:
Action/Adventure: Alan Wake, Assassin's Creed, Bastion, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Bayonetta, Brütal Legend, Bully, Darksiders, Dark Souls (first one), Deadly Premonition, Dead Space, Devil May Cry (3 & 5), Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, Heavy Rain, Hellblade, Infamous, Last of Us, Legend of Zelda (A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker), Luigi's Mansion, Metal Gear Solid (Twin Snakes, 3, 4 & 5), Ninja Gaiden (2004), Overlord, Phantom Crash, Resident Evil 2 remake, Saint's Row 2, The Saboteur, TMNT: Turtles in Time
Fighting: Anarchy Reigns, Blazblue (series), DBZ: Budokai, Dragon Ball Fighterz, Marvel vs Capcom (2 & 3), Mortal Kombat (9 & 11), Soul Calibur 3, Super Smash Bros. Melee
MOBA: Dota 2, Guardians of Middle Earth, Heroes of the Storm
Rogue-like: Binding of Isaac, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Darkest Dungeon, Dead Cells, Don't Starve, FTL, Monster Train, Slay the Spire
RPG: Bravely Default, Dragon Age (Origins and Inquisition), Dragon's Dogma, Elder Scrolls (Oblivion and Skyrim), Fable (1 & 2), Fallout (3 & New Vegas), Final Fantasy (IX, X & Tactics Advance), Grim Dawn, Mass Effect 2, Pillars of Eternity (series), Pokémon (Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver & Stadium), Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Suikoden 2, Tyranny, The Witcher (2 & 3)
Shooter: Bioshock (series), Battlefield Bad Company (1 & 2), The Darkness, Deep Rock Galactic, Gears of War (1 & 3), Left 4 Dead, Shadowrun (2007 FPS), Team Fortress 2 (when it first came out, it's a little much now), Vanquish
Simulation: Animal Crossing (first one), Doki Doki Literature Club, Harvest Moon, Life is Strange, Pokémon Snap, Tabletop Simulator
Strategy: Civilization (3 & 4), Endless Legend, Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers (2012 & 2013), Portal, Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, Warcraft 3
Not only that, but I've also gotten into tabletop gaming, including both board and pen and paper games (such as Dungeons and Dragons.) I initially got into the latter as an exercise to strengthen my creative muscles but found it was a fun way to goof off with friends. For the former, it's almost gotten to the point that I enjoy them more than most video games as it provides an experience that you don't get anymore; friends gathered around and competing against one another or cooperating against a common foe, something that's disappeared with the advent of the internet.
Some board games that I love are:
BANG! The Dice Game, Dead of Winter, Dice Throne, Epic Spell Wars, King of New York, Lords of Waterdeep, Munchkin, Pandemic, Red Dragon Inn
I enjoy reading as well, although I find it difficult to find a book that can keep my focus and really draw me in like I crave. I'm constantly on the prowl for new material, and my favorite genres would probably be apocalyptic/post-apocalyptic, dystopian, horror and dark fantasy/grimdark, although I'm certainly in the market for something that has a good element of humor to it as well. If you have any recommendations, I'd absolutely love to hear them!
Bring up video/board/tabletop games, super powers, comics, cartoons, anime, manga, sci-fi, fantasy or technology and I'll happily chat your ear off. I'm quite social and love to talk, however I'm also an introvert so there are plenty of times where the pressure of constant social interactions with others gets to me and I need to take some time to myself to mentally recharge.
As I mentioned, I absolutely adore animals. Seriously, if you want to make me hate a bad guy, have him hurt an animal. Ironically, I'm practically a carnivore. I'm convinced that I would starve if I had to hunt for my own food just because I couldn't bring myself to hurt them.
Speaking of food, I'm a bit of a foodie (I dislike that word, but it's accurate.) I'm all about sauces, seasonings and spices, not to mention a love for anything deep fried. I love experiencing different tastes and textures while trying new things...as long as they're not vegetables. No veggies, except corn and potatoes; those two get a pass as they're amazing. I also enjoy onions and peppers in small quantities in dishes.
I've got a nice guy next door look in that I have no tattoos or piercings, have glasses, stay clean shaven and have a bit of a baby face (as in I look rather young, I often get mistaken for being in my mid 20's). I wouldn't say that with my look I would be called handsome, sexy or hot (however I am often called cute (I've also been called handsome a fair amount, it still feels weird though.) I'm also rather pale due to the fact that I stay indoors most of the time (if you can't tell from that, I'm white.) Because of my appearance, and my friendly and laid back nature, people tend to view me as rather innocent. I suppose that isn't entirely incorrect though, I'll admit that I can be a bit naive at times in regards to people and the world.
As for politics and religion, I tend to try to stay away from both.
While I believe I'm somewhat in the middle for the former, as I have views from both sides, if I had to choose I'd say I definitely lean way more towards the left. I believe in the greater good, the needs of the many over the needs of the few, in advancing science and finding alternative fuels and materials that don't pollute or destroy our environment in the process, in trying to create a brighter future, etc, etc. I'm definitely not on the far left however, and hate social justice and cancel culture. I'm empathetic and all, but people need to stop getting offended by every tiny thIng and creating problems that don't exist. That's definitely not exclusive to the left, the right is very guilty of it as well.
For the latter, I generally just consider myself not religious as I don't think or care about it too much. If I had to classify it though I'd say I'm agnostic. This means that, while I don't believe in any god or gods, I acknowledge that they might exist. While I'm 99.3̅3̅3̅% certain that there is no grand creator or afterlife, there's no real way we can know for certain. We're a very young and ignorant species, there's much about life and the universe that we are unaware of or don't understand yet.
I just try to focus on being a good person and doing right by others, not for some earthly or heavenly reward, or for a smug sense of self satisfaction, but because it's simply what I want to do. It's who I am and what makes me feel good about myself.
I try my best to live by The Golden Rule (also known as treat others you the way you wish to be treated or do unto others as you would have them do unto you), being guided by own moral compass that directs me in how I interact with others. I always do my very best to make others feel wanted, cared for, appreciated and understood, to give them validation; I never want anyone to feel left out or unwanted, for any reason at all. Perhaps it's from my own difficult childhood, since I felt that way when I was young and don't want others to go through the same things that I did. Whatever the reason, whenever I say or do anything I tend to, without even realizing it, think about how it will affect the other person and the different ways that it could be taken. I strive to treat others with the courtesy and respect that I believe that they deserve.
As I mentioned, I have a strong moral compass. The only problem is, this is true North for my compass; I feel that's the correct way to treat and interact with others, and I believe that's what everyone should do. So when other people don't act in the way that I believe they should, even though I know everyone is different and everyone has different thoughts, feelings and experiences that led them to those (we are the product of our environments after all), it can bother me. I've come to realize that this is due to holding myself to extremely high standards, and often holding other people to the same standards to which I hold myself.
Unfortunately, that can lead to conflicts with others, sometimes over things that they might feel to be insignificant. It doesn't happen very often though as I can recognize whether something is actually a big deal or not and put it to the back of my mind; I wouldn't be a very good friend or partner if I nitpicked over every little thing, now would I? Despite being very much driven by my moral compass, I'm also calm, collected, understanding and logical by nature.
I've realized that I used to put a lot of pressure on myself when interacting with others, trying to be funny and entertaining, overall trying to make sure that they were having a good time and enjoying themselves. If, for whatever reason, I felt that they were bored I ended up trying even harder to keep them engaged and joyful. It was somewhat of a bad habit of mine; I suppose I just felt like I had a personal stake in everyone that I interacted with, a responsibility almost, and didn't want to leave them wanting. I still do this to some extent, but not as much as I used to; as I've grown and matured, and my anxiety has lessened, I've learned to pull back a bit and that I don't need to carry everyone's burden on my shoulders. I still wish to keep people engaged and happy, and still take on more responsibility than I probably should, however I imagine that I'll always be that way; it's just in my nature.
I'm an emotionally intelligent and extremely empathetic person who's well aware of his inner workings due to my introspective nature. I'm easily able to see things from multiple perspectives, which I believe is because of how I process empathy. I don't necessarily feel the exact pain of others, but I mirror it; it's second nature for me to put myself in their position which allows me to understand the plethora of ways they can think and feel. This is something that is a core part of who I am and that I take great pride in.
I feel deeply, which can lead to me taking things to heart and sometimes reading too much into things or overanalyzing them. Thankfully, due to my great experience in emotional control and regulation (which I'm about to go into), I'm generally able to take a step back from my emotions and understand the intent and meaning behind words and actions so there's less of a chance of misunderstanding.
Because I feel so deeply, that caused problems for me when I was younger. My emotions were a swirling vortex, out of control and ready to burst out at any second. Puberty certainly didn't make this any easier either.
It's been said that our personal identity is 80% environmental and 20% genetic. While I might be genetically predispositioned to feeling so deeply, a lot of it likely comes from traumas experienced in childhood and my inability to process them properly. They left scars that I'm still dealing with today, and as a result of said scars, growing up I was diagnosed with PTSD, anxiety, depression and OCD, on top of the ADHD that I already had. However, I'm thankfully in a very good place thanks to a combination of past therapy, current medication and constant reflection.
I've done a lot of work to be able to get a handle on my emotions. Because I got used to having them under such control, I've been told that at times I can come across as kind of indifferent or hard to read. That's one of the reasons that I'm such an upfront, open, honest and expressive person; I want people to be able to understand me and I generally tell exactly what I'm thinking or how something makes me feel so that others can do that.
Honestly, one of my biggest fears is that no one will ever be able to understand me like I understand myself. It's right up there with a fear of the unknown (one is the reasons I don't do deep water, I don't want to fuck with any Cthulhu monsters that are down there) and losing my memories, as in the end we're just a sum of our memories and I don't want to lose who I am.
I never claimed to be perfect; I have my flaws as well, and try to work on them every day to improve myself as a person. Since I've already put so much of myself into my profile, I thought that it was only right to put the negative parts in as well.
While some of these things could certainly be considered negative traits, I believe that they help make me the Dom that I am. Because I AM so compassionate, because I AM so empathetic, because I HAVE been through so much and still keep going, I feel that I can give a sub or a slave what she truly needs to thrive in her environment. Feel free to read more about that below.

My Beliefs:

If I had to break down why this all appeals to me to one reason, to put it simply, I'd have to say that I'm the kind of person who wants to be needed. I find that, overall, I feel more driven and fulfilled if I know that I have someone that depends on me. If I have someone whose best interests I must keep in mind, who I need to protect and care for, I feel a greater sense of purpose than the humdrum rumblings of everyday life.
When you combine that with my nurturing and empathetic nature this type of relationship is the natural choice for me (more on that next). I believe that's also why I find myself naturally drawn to the weak, the helpless and the damaged. I have an overwhelming desire to heal them, to help and protect them while nurturing them and watching them grow into who I know they can be, which goes with what I was saying before.
A sub knows that her Dom loves her unconditionally and only wants what is best for her. While I do certainly enjoy doing this, I primarily do this to help my sub above all else. I'm a nurturing soul who wishes nothing more than to protect his partner. To take care of her and help her when she needs it. To be her support and her life line. To give her the guidance, structure and discipline she needs to feel fulfilled in life. To set rules and guidelines so that she can move freely within those set limits and be happy. To help her decide what is best for her when she herself doesn't know. To provide the security and comfort of knowing that she is being taken care of and that she has someone she can talk to about anything without any sort of judgment or prejudice. I want her to thrive and become the person that she was always meant to be. I enjoy pushing my sub to explore her boundaries and limits, within reason of course. I simply wish to see her flourish and blossom, to help her become what I know she can be and reach higher plateaus.
I realize the previous paragraphs could sound condescending in some ways, however that couldn't be further from the truth. I see my partner as an equal, someone who simply has different needs that I can fulfill so that they can live a fulfilling life themselves, and in turn by fulfilling those needs of theirs, I feel fulfilled as well. We ultimately form a symbiotic relationship of sorts.
Make no mistake, I have no desire to micromanage every tiny detail of my sub's life, nor form a codependent relationship where she's entirely reliant upon me for her mental and emotional needs. The level and extent of the D/s relationship is decided after long discussion and input from both parties.
Some believe that being a Dom is just telling people what to do and getting what you want while getting off, but it's so much more than that. It's not as easy or simple as it appears, you must always keep what is best for your sub in mind, even if it conflicts with your own immediate or future interests. You must constantly be aware of her needs and desires while providing checks and balances to help her live a life worth living. Anyone can simply give a sub what she wants, it takes a true Dom to say no because you feel that is what is best for her.
At least that's how it should be. There are so many "Doms" out there that don't care about their subs at all, only themselves. They don't care if they're suffering physically or emotionally, they simply use them as toys they can play with and then toss aside when they're bored; they abuse them and hurt them simply because they get a kick out of it. A real Dom/sub relationship is a very special and strong bond, much more so than a vanilla relationship in my opinion. So many people seem to have issues understanding that unfortunately, there's a certain stigma associated with this and preconceptions are formed before they even learn anything about it.
Truthfully, I believe the sub holds the power in the relationship in many ways. She is the one that is choosing to submit after all, to give up her power and control to the Dom. Despite that, she is the one that has control over the power of safe words, that can stop an activity with a single utterance. Her subservience is completely voluntary, something that many people don't seem to think about. It's not simply about someone bossing someone around because they can, it's about someone choosing a partner that they feel is worthy to give their all to.

What I'm looking for:

I'm not here looking for a booty call or one night stand, but to find a potential partner in crime, possibly for life if a connection is made. More than anything, I simply wish to find someone who looks at me the way this girl looks at her prom date.
While the following is my ideal, as I said at the beginning, I'm open to talking to anyone that reads this. However, I'm not particularly interested in "littles" or "brats".
Ideally my partner would be what is typically called an adult babygirl, and I'd like to elaborate on that term since some might not be familiar with it. Essentially it's someone who enjoys the nurturing, loving and structured aspect of a Daddy Dom or DD/lg relationship but isn't a little themselves; meaning that they don't have a mental age that they regress to, among other things. (I don't identify as a Daddy myself, however due to my protective and supportive/nurturing nature you could say I'm Daddy leaning.)
Some people have their entire lives revolve around the lifestyle, going to munches, conventions, parties and attempting to reach out to their community and find a place to belong. That might work for them, but it's of no interest to me. While I'm certainly not opposed to chatting and making friends and connections, I have no desire to be a part of a community. I'm simply seeking one whose ideas and beliefs line up with my own for a symbiotic relationship as I mentioned before
If I had to describe such a relationship, it would definitely be on the lighter side of the spectrum in regards to what daily life would be like. I'm seeking a 24/7 TPE, however I also enjoy being casual with my sub. Perhaps in some ways it's more similar to a vanilla relationship with strong Dom/sub undertones than a typical BDSM relationship.
In my perfect situation, we would still be able to joke around, have fun and be very close and romantic; however there is also the constant understanding that I am in charge, and what I say goes. No matter how much fun we may be having or what we might be doing, she should always know her place, even if it's only in the back of her mind. There are rules in place for her benefit, and if she breaks those rules she will be punished.
By what I say goes, I mean I have the final say in subjects because, as a submissive, she has given the reins of power over to me. She trusts me to make her decisions for her and to do what is best for her, to take care of and protect her. I'm never the type to say "this is how it's going to be, I don't care what you want, end of discussion" as discourse is the only way two people can truly understand one another. I always value my submissive's input and always want her to give her opinion and speak her mind if something is bothering her.
My ideal sub would be one that is loyal and devoted above all else, but also one who is looking for a Dom she can actually have a connection with. One that, not necessarily needs, but craves guidance, support, structure and discipline in their life; whose life does not feel complete without this, like there is a void deep inside her that cannot be filled unless she has a Dom to guide and take care of her, that she can in turn make happy and serve to the best of her ability.
Beyond anything else though, I want to like them as a person before I love them as a sub. My perfect partner would be someone who is intelligent, kind-hearted, earnest, funny and a has a fair touch of dorkiness in her. I want her to be someone that actually has personality, that I can laugh with and talk to for hours upon hours on end and still hate the thought of leaving. Someone that will either indulge my love of games and geekery or join me because she's just as much of a fan of those things as I am. Someone who loves how I tease and torment her, keeping her on the edge and revelling in the pleasure I get from watching her squirm.
One thing to note is that just because I am very friendly (sometimes people are surprised when I begin acting more Dominant, others aren't as they say they can "sense it in the way I present myself", even while being friendly and joking around) doesn't mean that I'm not strict when I have to be. I have no problem at all with enforcing rules and giving out punishments, although it's certainly not my favorite aspect of the relationship. I would prefer to reward, encourage and nurture my sub, however there are times when discipline is necessary; if one feels the need to act up, one must be ready accept the consequences after all.
If I had to describe my style of dominance, or what makes me dominant, I suppose that would be a little tricky. I don't feel the need to control everything, nor do I attempt to, and I have no problem with kicking back and letting others take the reigns in everyday situations if I feel they're more qualified or I just plain don't feel like it. Nor am I the type that "oozes" dominance, I don't care for confrontation and am a very easy going, go with the flow person. What I believe it boils down to is I simply feel comfortable with power and, quite frankly, enjoy it. I bear the burden of leadership well, it comes naturally to me and I thrive when I have the weight of another's life on my shoulders; I have little trouble making hard decisions when I need to. It also helps that my sexual inclinations line up with this nicely. If it doesn't last quite some time and doesn't end with both parties panting and soaked in sweat, I'm not particularly interested in it.
On that note, I have quite the kinky side despite my friendly and charming exterior. I suppose I should list it here because, while certainly not the primary focus of my interest in this, sexual compatibility does factor in to some extent.
My kinks are:
Anal, begging, biting, blowjobs, body worship, bondage, choking, cock worship, consensual non-consent, creampies, crying (the good kind), cumplay, deepthroating, degradation, desperation, dirty talking, face fucking, facials, free use, hair pulling, hole stretching (basically pushing my partner to her limits), humiliation, hypnosis, name calling, objectification, orgasm control (which includes edging, forced orgasms, orgasm denial and ruined orgasms), public play (in a discreet manner), slapping, spanking, spitting and teasing.
One thing I feel I should mention is that the acts of degradation and humilation are limited to play time and only sexual in nature, never attacking my partner in any way.
I also believe very strongly in aftercare and safe words as the mental and emotional well being of my partner is very important.
I realize there's no one way to live this lifestyle, but I feel like a lot of what I said should be obvious and general knowledge in regards to this; however from my experience it doesn't seem to be that way too often (not referring to the that are inexperienced in this, more those that do this for the wrong reason), which is why I wanted to share my views in such detail.
I feel like I've rambled on enough already and am dangerously close to having a TL;DR (yeah, I hit that ages ago), so I'll just say that if you're interested in learning more about me and getting to know me, you can give me a message and we'll see where things go. I like to get to know people naturally, just talk with them and see where things lead, whether that be a short chat, a simple friendship or something more. It seems silly to have expectations when you don't even know the person or how you'll get along.
Even if you're nervous or anxious, you think you might not be good enough, doubt my intentions or anything along those lines, still give me a message. After all, what do you have to lose?
Thanks for taking the time to read my little novella, I hope to hear from you soon. So long, and thanks for reading!

2023.05.29 17:45 Darmanarya Hunting pack chapter 4

((Work was so slow today I wrote this all on my phone. Will be adding the chapter change buttons later as a result. Hope you all enjoy this! Also: credit, as always and as deserved, goes to u/SpacePaladin15 for the good universe of "Nature of Predators" and community! Also shoutout to "Nature of Giants" creator u/Acceptable_Egg5560 for giving me a good example to use as a cameo!))
Memory transcript subject: Krakotl exterminator team leader Taita
Date [standardized human time]: October 20, 2136
I am an exterminator.
I am told I am one of the best.
My office has plenty of awards that were given to me.
I have done jobs many thought impossible.
But above all I am professional.
I must look at every case with as little emotion as possible to ensure that I can protect the most people possible. Heat should come from my flamer, not my heart or head. I must not let mindless beliefs and superstition rule me unlike those brAHKING IDIOTS IN DAWN CREEK WHO JUMP AT ANYT-
Breathe in.
Hold.
Breathe out.
I am an exterminator.
I must be professional.
The attempted purge of the human world was, to me, all wrong. The humans have shown very few predatory behaviors and are far more advanced than the Yotul were. Some records indicate that a significant portion of their population was even becoming plant only by choice pre-contact. Not only that but the exterminator fleet carried out their duties with a zeal that was unfitting for exterminators. They abandoned those in need to pursue a kill. That is predatory and is against what we swore to purge.
I should be angry at the humans. They led the Arxur to attack us, but at the same time I must acknowledge if a parent leaves their child alone near predators then the parent would be detained for such a horrible act. How was the fleet's behavior any different?
I stared at the chat program in front of me.
Venlil male. Skip
Yotul female. Skip
Krakotl male. Skip
I needed to learn more about humans. I had to. I always tried my hardest to learn and study the predators I purged to make sure I could be as efficient as possible. It was my research that discovered the Bahrulet were just prey that had a spike in predator disease in males every cycle rather than them being predators. It was me that figured out it was a koloshian tsking apart yotul rather than a predator with a taste for the species.
And here it was. A chance i could find a predator I could talk to. A predator I could ask questions about. As an exterminator team lead I managed to pull some strings and get my copy of the chat program decensored a good bit so I could ask questions.
Professional ones.
No stupid ones like "Are you going to eat me?" Or anything of the sort. I didn't believe the theories that humans were mind controlling the Venlil or that they were faking. On such a scale it would be impossible! Besides, as skittish as the Venlil were I doubt one of their brains could stay conscious long enough to be brainwashed if a human tried it. Besides. I watched the videos from the cradle. I would trade all my feathers for just ONE exterminator as tough and devoted as those humans were. You can't fake that kind of passion when protecting something from a predator.
I wanted to know how their kind hunted in the past. Why? Why was I going to ask such a predatory question? If I knew then perhaps our purges could go smoother. Identify where a predator could strike, what they looked for, how to better kill to make sure none got away.
Professional. Questions.
But… I also just felt wrong about what happened on Earth. I wanted to find out for myself if such an extreme purge was really justified. I mean, I know it probably wasn't, but I needed to learn more before I made up my mind.
Venlil female. Skip
Krokotl male. Looking for female. Skip and block
Koloshian. Skip
Venlil male. Skip
Dossur female. Skip
I breathed out. I was told there would be humans on this app now! Sure, most humans would probably not be too interested after… that. And most were probably skipping me because I was a krakotl female. My kind did just purge a large number of theirs. B-
Human male.
Oh. He didn't skip me? "54rhuman?" Rather basic username, but their names are probably highly restricted. My talon hovered over "accept." Did I really want to do this? Yes. I had to.
Click.
Firebird: Are you really a human?
54rhuman: yup! Was rejected from the first batch of exchange due to my interests and diet. Picked up this app since I HAD to meet some aliens.
Firebird: What is your job?
54rhuman: I work IT. Can't say much beyond that. Fairly boring. U?
I froze. My username was a hint, but maybe the human just thought I was being "cool." Should I lie? No. Professionalism. If I wanted him to tell me the truth I had to tell the truth.
Firebird: dont leave please. Exterminator team lead.
There was a long pause, but he didn't leave.
Firebird: still there?
54rhuman: yup! Just has to sneak a few pictures of my guest. He is sleeping hard next to me. Cool! Always wanted to talk to an exterminator.
What?
Firebird:what? Even after what we did?
54rhuman: hey. It was one group of exterminators, and a krakotl, but fuck it. Not everyone in a group is the same. Besides! You are the feds version of the police! Cant all be bad.
I read the reply. Then again. Then again.
What we did was wrong.
54rhuman: besides. I feel horrible for your kind about the arxur. I know it saved us, but it still feels wrong.
There was the empathy that the reports I read outlined.
The fleet was wrong.
Firebird: I… ok. Do you mind if I ask questions? They might be a bit sensitive, but I always wanted to ask a predator questions.
54rhuman: not all humans are really predators, so be careful with that name, but gotta admit it fits me some. Ask away!
What to ask first? Speh. Lets just go for the simple one.
Firebird: do humans have something like exterminators?
54r human: yup! Multiple different groups actually with one actually called the same thing. We have a bunch of animals on earth. Some just cause lots of problems like eating our food or spreading disease while some kill us.
Oh what the BRAHKT would hunt a human!? A predator predator was a thought I did not want to think about. Professionalism be damned!
54rhuman: I am actually in one of the groups as a side job and hobby. It is what got me rejected from the first exchange batch. We don't use fire though. We find that cruel.
Cruel? I tilted my head as my feathers ruffled out. I had to know why this human thought our methods were cruel!
Firebird: How is it cruel? It kills the predator and ensures there is nothing left to cause issues. No decaying body, no spread of predator, no drawing in other predators, and more.
54rhuman: Humans find it to be far too long and painful of a death. While some humans do believe in destroying truly horrific things with fire, its often seen as the most extreme method. Huh. Thought this would get censored.
Firebird: I am an exterminator team leader. Chatting with me has reduced censorship due to what I know.
54rhuman: Fair. We just try to use things like guns and other devices to make sure the death is quick and painless and as clean as possible. We dont like being cruel by causing lots of pain.
If that was true some exterminators had more predator disease than this human!
54rhuman: ah shit my guest is waking up! Bet they are hungry so need to get them something to eat. They look so cute asleep as well, wanna hug em'! Friending so we can talk later! Bye!
Chat partner disconnected.
54rhuman wants to be friends! Accept? Yes! Ignore.
I just… sat there staring at the screen. The human was nice and every bit lined up with what I heard. He replied quicker than I did so it wasn't like he had time to come up with a lie either. My claw tapped "accept." My eyes looked up to the poster of "The Exterminators" hanging on my wall. It was signed by the whole cast as a thank you for some of my cases inspiring a couple of their episodes.
The purge order was wrong. It had to be! Fully based on nothing but fear, superstition, and probably even predator disease!
Unprofessional.

Currently, NWBO's Sawston plant is the only visible global hub for DC VAX L manufacturing and distribution (MHRA MIA approval 3/20/23) . For $400 , FED EX (https://www.fedex.com/en-us/custom-critical.html) ships anywhere globally within the required timeframes.A SAGE (https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/20363613231179541) 5/26/23 scientific publication demonstrates intent by Pakistani neurosurgeons to treat and cure their GBM patients. Looks like the DC VAX L JAMA paper and LIAU- Bosch presentations since 10/26/22 have created global awareness that DCVAX L will be is a major global cell based biotech therapy, addressing GBM , and all solid tumors( https://conferences.asco.org/am/industry-expert-theater).
With 50% of LIAU-SPORE-UCLA combo patents living 10 years, DC VAX L has turned SOC's GBM treatment from a terminal (16.5) months disease into a chronic treatable malignancy .

Post# 593185 of 593185 I am definitely not a biotech expert and what I've learned about Northwest and DCVax-l was shared with me by one of the legends in the biotech world !!! My biggest takeaway is this:
From 2018 forward, it became apparent that DCVax-L was a breakthrough, technological process for the treatment of nGBM and rGBM, but its true potential was only known by a "handful" of experts, and as such, the understanding of the broader market implications was a relative unknown. Early on, several of the comments that I heard from BP were," The GBM market is really not that big!" and " Personalized, Immunotherapy vaccines are not really in our 'Wheelhouse'. We sell compounds/pills!!" On and on! The comments didn't mean that BP wasn't paying attention! Quite the contrary, BP was watching like a hawk as results from Dr. Liau and the UCLA trials began to leak into the medical community suggesting a broader application of DCVax-L on a "stand alone" basis and in combination with CI's for all large tumor cancers ( mentioned in the latest 10Q for future trials), thus dramatically expanding market potentials!!! But the "Big Moment" occurred in late October of last year when the STADIUM LIGHTS turned on, shining bright lights on the latest nGBM/rGBM ,Dr. Liau trial data suggesting 50%to 65% OS for 8 years with emphasis on rGBM !!! That was the point in time when BP and the entire biotech world realized that GBM/rGBM would be treated and managed as a CHRONIC DISEASE!!! with unlimited PROMISE and HOPE for patients and unlimited marketing potential to finance existing vaccine production and the continuing development for improved treatments for all diseases!!!!!
So that's what I learned and that's my story and I'm stickin to it!!!!
Cheers especially to all the Mom's and to everyone !!!

Bright Boy Re: None Saturday, March 18, 2023 12:38:55 PM Post# of 596750 Go People, People, People !!!!
The light switch just turned on for me !!! I'm not a doctor or scientist or a STEM concentration "rock star", but if I read something over and over again several times and look carefully at the pictures SOMETIMES, NOT ALL THE TIME, a major mental breakthrough occurs and I believe that I've discovered something very profound!!
In this case, I believe the main message from the slide deck is that DCVax-L, either by itself or in combination with CI's has turned the whole thing around for treating nGBM/rGBM from having to kill the tumor to a "management process" !! It looks like now with this new information, that GBM patients can receive vaccinations as needed with "Zero" side effects and live a long and happy life !!! A comment from a medical expert that DOES KNOW !!!:
Dr. Greg Zivic:
This treatment can turn a Glioblastoma into a chronic treatable disease even after recurrence of the tumor.
So help me out here. Does the above reasoning seem logical based on the slides all of us have just reviewed?? If it does or is, then little Team Northwest has just changed the healthcare landscape forever in the way that we treat disease!!!!!
Am I way off base or are all of onto to something that is fabulous beyond belief???
Cheers,
BB
Bright Boy Re: thermopost# 591947 Tuesday, May 09, 2023 8:41:30 PM Post# of 596749 Go The UK is determined to be the world carrousel for use of immunotherapy vaccines to treat cancers and all forms of disease!!! From my friends in the UK, my use of the word "determined" grossly understates the effort behind the "Grand Plan"!!
So far, the MHRA has not only accepted and approved the MIA application (manufacturing license), but voluntarily offered the expansion to a GLOBAL MANUFACTURING" license allowing for the import of live cells and the export of vaccines to the far corners of the earth!!! People!!! That is huge!!!!! BUT as always 99.99% of the retail investors don't understand the significance of that license or anything else about the process and look to the screen to validate the importance/value of the license, where they are greeted by Citadel and Virtu and the rest of the gang that manipulate the price to new lows, confirming that, in spite of everything they just read from the greatest medical minds in the universe, is a bunch of crap!!!!
Fortunately for the cancer patients and shareholders of Northwest, the MHRA does not include in their decision making process the current SP of NWBO or the opinion of the "gutter filth" that manage those companies or any other companies that participate in the ordered destruction of small biotechs that are engaged in the development of immunotherapy vaccines!! So, it's on to the filing of the MAA (marketing license), the approval and the decisions that will guarantee swift treatment deliveries to patients!!
So Griffin and Cifu and Fuerstein and the rest can lie all they want , but the GREAT UNITED KINGDOM will not be denied the ultimate crown of being the WORLD CENTER for CANCER TREATMENT !!!!!

Bright Boy Re: hoffmann6383post# 578889 Tuesday, March 21, 2023 1:55:12 PM Post# of 596749 Go People, People, People!!! It's your friendly "hillbilly" here with some more great news!! Don't know if I can "one up" my earlier post about the "Dog eating the license", but I'll try. So here we go!!
I don't think everyone realizes how dynamic and important the manufacturing license really is so I'll take a shot at giving you my take on it. First of all, the marketing approval (MAA) and the government subsidy approval(NICE) are pretty much in the bag before the manufacturing team gets the "green light" to proceed. The MAA and NICE teams talk to the MIA team and say," This stuff looks really cool and we wanted to let you know before you run off and do a lot of work on something that we won't approve when you're finished!!" Okay! So that's the first part.
Now for the second part and this is the part that involves a lot of money so read very carefully!!! The MIA license allows for global export of the vaccines and global import of immune cells/tumor resected material. Anyone in the entire world that is diagnosed with GBM can NOW ship their tumor samples to Northwest/Advent/Sawston to have their personal vaccine made and stored, all to be shipped back to the patient/doctor on a prescribed injection schedule. The beauty of this process is that patients everywhere can NOW receive their vaccine on a compassionate care basis. No more waiting!! No more opportunities for the "dark forces" to delay or deny suffering cancer patients their desperately needed treatments !!!
People, as of yesterday, Northwest is now IN BUSINESS !!!! AND that opens the door for institutional investors and an uplist to the New York or Nasdaq exchanges!!!!
All of the above is as good as that first sip of ice cold buttermilk on a hot summer day!!!! AND for those unfortunate shorts and haters it adds a whole new description to the letters FTD and I'll let you guess what that might be!!!
Cheers,
BB
Bright Boy Re: None Tuesday, March 21, 2023 9:05:54 PM Post# of 596749 Go The MIA allows for "International Immune Cell Imports" and "International Vaccine Exports" !!! That is big news and a big, big market and should access every cancer patient in need!!!!

Abstract Objective: To define the landscape of treatment patterns and current epidemiological data regarding gliomas in Pakistan.
Methods: As part of the Pakistan Brain Tumour Epidemiology Study (PBTES), data were collected from 32 neurosurgical centres across the country. Our retrospective study looked at patients who underwent surgical procedures for gliomas in 2019 in neurosurgical centres. The data was collated and analysed using STATA version 15.
Results: A total of 781 patients with gliomas were identified 479(61.8%) in public sector hospitals, 302(39.1%) in the private sector). The most common histopathological subtypes were glioblastoma 262 (33.5%), followed by astrocytoma 147(18.8%) and oligodendroglioma 93(11.9%). Gender distribution was skewed towards men 508(65%). Private institution hospitals performed surgical biopsies as the first surgical procedure 75(23%) more often than public hospitals 38(9%). Chemotherapy was given to 115(29.8%) patients, and there was no data regarding 467(53%) of patients. Similarly, only 202(43.9%) patients received radiation therapy, and there was no data for 469(60%) of patients. For high-grade gliomas specifically, only 95(31.8%) patients with HGG have a record of receiving radiation therapy, and only 57(18.9%) had a record of being started on chemotherapy.

Contents Declaration of conflicting interests Funding ORCID iDs Footnotes References PDF / ePub More Dear Editor, Glioblastoma is a malignant neoplasm of the central nervous system that arises from glial cells, primarily astrocyctes and is characterized by poorly differentiated, fusiform, round or pleomorphic astrocyctic cells with marked nuclear atypical and brisk mitotic activity.1 Despite advances in early diagnosis and comprehensive treatments, there is nearly 100% recurrence rate and dismal patient survival.2 According to researchers, more than 13,000 Americans are diagnosed with Glioblastoma annually, causing significant morbidity and mortality. There has been no cure for Glioblastoma so far.3 Treatment options often include surgical removal of the tumor followed by concomitant radiation and adjuvant temozolomide TMZ chemotherapy which has been the standard of care for glioblastoma since decades, but exposure to high doses of ionizing radiation is a well-known exogenous risk factor for glioblastoma. The inability to cross the BBB is the major obstacle in achieving remission after surgical resection followed by chemotherapy and radiation.4 As a result, glioblastoma typically recurs within six to 8 months and the survival rate is generally less than 5%.2 Despite the development of novel, complex, multidisciplinary, and targeted therapies the outcome for patients remains almost universally lethal.5 Therefore, the need for effective treatment is undeniable. For this reason, it has been a priority area in cancer research. Recently, US biotech company Northwest Biotherapeutics has developed a brain cancer vaccine, called DCVax, which is designed to help patients' immune system to target their tumors that may prolong their life by months or, in some cases, years.5 Thus, opening a door for the development of innovative therapy for targeting glioblastoma. The vaccine is created for each patient individually by isolating dendritic cells, from their blood which is then primed with biomarkers from a sample of the patient’s tumor.6 Dendritic cells present tumor antigens to the immune system, prime T cells, and mobilize antitumor responses.6 To evaluate the safety of the vaccine and its impact on survival time in patients with Glioblastoma, a phase 3 randomized control trial was conducted.7 In this trial, 348 patients newly diagnosed with Glioblastoma were tested at King’s College Hospital and other centers around the world for 8 years.7 Patients had surgery to remove their tumors as much as possible, followed by radiation and chemotherapy as the standard treatment for Glioblastoma.7 Among these patients, two out of three were treated with the vaccine, DCVax-L, with the remaining one-third receiving a placebo.7 The astonishing result of the trial has shown that newly diagnosed patients who received the vaccine survived for 19.3 months compared to 16.5 months for those who received a placebo.8 Overall 13% of all trial participants treated with DCVax lived more than 5 years after diagnosis compared with 5.7% in the comparison group who did so.8 Moreover, this is the first time in 17 years that such a significant result has been achieved in a Phase 3 trial of a systemic treatment for newly diagnosed Glioblastoma, and it’s the first treatment in 27 years for patients with GBM recurrence.9 Thus, this development represents a major step forward in our efforts to combat this devastating disease. Based on the findings of the trials evaluating the drug’s efficacy, it has the potential to improve the quality of life for patients, especially for the elderly and those unable to have surgery. A global clinical trial has concluded that the DCVax is the world’s first vaccine to treat deadly cancerous brain tumors that could help patients to live for years.9 This breakthrough could benefit 2500 people a year in the UK being diagnosed with Glioblastoma.9 It has also been shown that this therapy can be used to treat cancers other than Glioblastoma.9 However, due to high recurrence rate and lethal outcomes, the treatment of gliblastoma has seen significant transformation, switching from an aggressive surgical strategy to a more cautious one. The endorsement of the vaccine is a commendable achievement, and it demonstrates the unwavering commitment of researchers and healthcare professionals to discovering effective treatments for such lethal disease. Furthermore, vaccine may enhance the quality of life of a patient and provides a new hope for patients and their families Thus, it is crucial that we continue to support research into Glioblastoma and the development of novel treatments so that we can envision a future where this disease is eradicated. 2023.05.29 17:39 chadbarrett So I finally got around to reading the 14 Features of Fascism and couldn't help but laugh. It seems applicable to pretty much every group in every country, from politics to identity.

I saw the typical riff raff back and forth with someone trying to calm another down, that Republicans are NOT literally Nazi fascists trying to blah blah blah, you know the drill. With the other side insisting that they check off nearly every box! Then linked some overly exhausting article on it, as "proof".
Knowing how the internet is, I decided to look up these 14 features myself, and as expected, if you don't like a group, it's pretty damn easy to pigeon-hole any opponent into this ideology. Forward: I'm actually a liberal progressive, just a bit anti "terminally online woke weirdos", and also understand the intention of the author was these features are meant to be extreme reflections. However, I'm highlighting how it's used casually to frame your opponent into that category for political convenience.
So let's see how the average young woke liberal Redditor checks off these boxes? Surely, the most anti-fascist group out there wouldn't be... Fascist.
1. The cult of tradition. “One has only to look at the syllabus of every fascist movement to find the major traditionalist thinkers. The Nazi gnosis was nourished by traditionalist, syncretistic, occult elements.”
This one is the most silly... Because "Traditionalist thinkers" encompasses literally every ideology, from religion, to political, there will always be dead thinkers who are admired and revered thought leaders. Now while there may not be any direct occult traditions, even though many are knee deep in their horoscope, there are definitely ingroup signalling. Let's do a pronoun roundtable before the group and introduce ourselves. I'll admit though, this isn't as strong, as say, the Nazis who were propper occult based.
2. The rejection of modernism. “The Enlightenment, the Age of Reason, is seen as the beginning of modern depravity. In this sense Ur-Fascism can be defined as irrationalism.”
This one doesn't apply. I could bend a bit and find some ways, but it would overall make the argument weak. If anything, they are the ones encouraging depravity like sex work is real work type stuff, so I wont push on this one. But fascists don't need to check off ALL 14.
3. The cult of action for action’s sake. “Action being beautiful in itself, it must be taken before, or without, any previous reflection. Thinking is a form of emasculation.”
Every year, every damn year... Me and my fellow progressives are attacked because we need to "Vote Blue, no matter who!" or "If you don't vote Democrat, you aint black, Jack!"
4. Disagreement is treason. “The critical spirit makes distinctions, and to distinguish is a sign of modernism. In modern culture the scientific community praises disagreement as a way to improve knowledge.”
This is probably their biggest one. This absolutely fits the most extreme cases in all ways. Culturally, they've absolutely made it so any one who dissagrees with them on any nuanced issue from COVID to Clinton being a queen, will label you a heretic. People like fucking Jimmy Dore and Russell Brand are now considered "right wingers". Ever see someone have a nuanced take on the trans issue? You don't so much any more, because it gets you banned across reddit. But people used to.
5. Fear of difference. “The first appeal of a fascist or prematurely fascist movement is an appeal against the intruders. Thus Ur-Fascism is racist by definition.”
This is highlighted by the liberal elitism growing disdain for the working class. The snobbery and aversion from poor and working class types make them uncomfortable, and viewed as inherently racist, sexist, transphobic, and problematic. These "evil white trash Republicans" are viewed as a threat to our country and actively coordinating to spread lies and propaganda over Minecraft to convert our children to becoming... ALT RIGHT
6. Appeal to social frustration. “One of the most typical features of the historical fascism was the appeal to a frustrated middle class, a class suffering from an economic crisis or feelings of political humiliation, and frightened by the pressure of lower social groups.”
Again, ties right in with the above. It's those damn, uneducated, white trash, rural folx voting against their interests. They view them not as struggling poor in a dysfunctional economic system, but rather, uneducated poor who are too dumb to think for themselves, who ultimately drag down the country.
7. The obsession with a plot. “Thus at the root of the Ur-Fascist psychology there is the obsession with a plot, possibly an international one. The followers must feel besieged.”
This obsession of this idea that there is a sophisticated Russian/GOP psyop all across the internet trying to spread misinformation. That any time people say something you dissagree with, it's either a victim of this nefarious plot against people, or coordinated active agents themselves spotted in the wild, trying to recruit Twitter and Reddit users.
8. The enemy is both strong and weak. “By a continuous shifting of rhetorical focus, the enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak.”
This is my favorite. Trump was both an absolute incompetent moron, who couldn't even string a thought together, but also a sophisticated and calculated mad man who was about to overthrow the entire government. Russia as well, can barely launch an invasion against a small country as their entire infrastructure scrambles and crumbles to their poor leadership, but also sophisticated enough to shift the entire global zeitgeist including changing the outcome of an American election.
9. Pacifism is trafficking with the enemy. “For Ur-Fascism there is no struggle for life but, rather, life is lived for struggle.”
Also SUPER common. Guilty by association. You aren't even allowed to TALK to the other side. It's either "giving them a platform" or "empowering their thoughts by paying attention to it." Very very cultish and insular here. It's seen as heretical to simply be friendly to the other side. So much so, many of these people have cut off family ties over it.
10. Contempt for the weak. “Elitism is a typical aspect of any reactionary ideology.”
I want to give them a pass on this, because I saw what antifa looks like in real life, and it's a bunch of sissies. As most of these "woke leftists". However, they do still see people on the right as weak, intellectually. And they hate them for it. If anything, the left is worse than the right with how much arrogance they hold at the higher ranks. And we have data to prove it.
11. Everybody is educated to become a hero. “In Ur-Fascist ideology, heroism is the norm. This cult of heroism is strictly linked with the cult of death.”
Just look around Reddit and the rest of social media. Online activists literally dedicate their lives to "fighting the secret underground cabal of GOP agents spreading misinformation". Literally, Reddit is ran by about 5 full time power mods who are all activists, who also recruit activists. They all think they are a hero in their own plot.
12. Machismo and weaponry. “Machismo implies both disdain for women and intolerance and condemnation of nonstandard sexual habits, from chastity to homosexuality.”
I'd initially say they don't fit this... But they do fit the spirit of it. They are just on the inverse. Machismo and masculinity in general are deemed evil. Instead, they lead with loosely defined virtuism that guides them. It's all the same shit though. 4Chan types may want to troll and set up a raid and ruin someone's life for some stupid racist reason... But at the end of the day, they are doing it for fun/meaning and to feel powerful over a group of people. The terminally online left is no different... But instead of using machismoism, they use virtue to justify their bully tactics to have fun/meaning and feel a sense of power over others. They just have to find a way to label the person a heretic, then it's morally justified hunting season, where it's morally encouraged to ruin someone's life.
13. Selective populism. “There is in our future a TV or Internet populism, in which the emotional response of a selected group of citizens can be presented and accepted as the Voice of the People.”
When it's Trump trying to redefine the norms and institutions, suddenly the state is sacred and instutions must be preserved. When it's Bernie (My man), suddenly it's "Well yeah, the government is shit and we need to start it all over from scratch! Bernie is a shill now. We need someone even more radical! Capitilism itself has to go entirely through revolution!"
14. Ur-Fascism speaks Newspeak. “All the Nazi or Fascist schoolbooks made use of an impoverished vocabulary, and an elementary syntax, in order to limit the instruments for complex and critical reasoning.”
I think this one goes without saying. This is their second hardest one on the list that fits the author's intended extremist definition. They are almost defined by their newspeak. The obsession with definitions, the treadmill constantly going to signal how committed they are to "the cause", is all so cultish.
~~~~~~~~
Anyways, my point is. You can probably do this with any other group. I don't think my defining of the left here, is any more or less dishonest than if you were to do it with the right.
2023.05.29 17:36 woketinydog Is my identification with genderqueer-ness misogynistic?
I've always considered myself a feminist, and for most of my life, I've considered myself a woman. In the past couple of years, however, I've been presenting more and more androgynous/genderqueer. Because of my height and feminine features, people can still tell I am a biological female, I think, but lots of people in my age group now assume I go by they/them or they make a point to ask my pronouns, which never happened before. This makes me happy! I identify with other women and currently have settled with she/they, but I also like looking the way I do and being received as more androgynous.
But, I have so many questions surrounding this. I study philosophy and specifically feminist philosophy and I am always wondering if my genderqueer presentation is misogynist. In the way that a "not-like-other-girls" mindset is misogynist. Is my disillusionment with womanhood based on a patriarchal construction of womanhood? Probably, yes. Is wanting to appear more androgynous or to go by they/them pronouns (as a rejection of this construction) helping the problem, or is it merely alienating myself from other women in order to gain some sort of confidence and assurance in myself?
I don't want a response that merely tells me I can be a feminist and genderqueer and I can have whatever identity I choose all at the same time. I know I can do this, but is it helpful or is it saturated in a patriarchal understanding of womanhood? I want to explore why I feel this way and if identifying as genderqueer is helpful to other feminists.
