2023.05.29 17:55 AKmaninNY NY Westchester County - Quotes for Solar + Business Case
I am paying an average of $290 per month for electricity. ConEd rates for Westchester County have increased from $0.22 per kWh in 2020 to $0.29 per kWh in 2023. I consumed 12,096kWh in the year ending April 2023.
I've received quotes from two local companies (Enphase Platinum Partner and Sunpower Affiliate) and two national companies (Tesla SunRun). I'm seeing a range of $2.48 - $3.98 per watt before incentives and $1.31-$2-46 after incentives (NYSERDA, NY State Tax, Federal ITC). Solar seems to make sense for me.
Rough payback is <7 years for the lowest cost option (15.2KW system Q-Cell/Enphase IQ8) given my electrical consumption, 1:1 Net Metering, 100% offset and NOT assuming any ConEd rate increases
NPV for a 10 year period paying cash: $18.7K
- Assume $20K cash for lowest cost option
- Assume $3K allowance to cut some trees
- Assume ConEd Net Metering provided at 1:1 for 10 years; ConEd annual increase at 3% - per kWh and interconnect fee (super-duper conservative)
- Assume I sell house in year 10 and receive a $24 bump in home value due to solar panel
- Discount Rate of 5%
NPV for a 10 year period and financed with NYSERDA financing: $18K
- Assume $20K for lowest cost option is financed at 6.99% for 15 years $0 down for the loan and payments commence after PTO
- Assume $3K is paid in cash at beginning of term
- Assume ConEd Net Metering provided at 1:1 for 10 years; ConEd annual increase at 3% - per kWh and interconnect fee (super-duper conservative)
- Assume I sell house in year 10 and receive a $24 bump in home value due to solar panel
- Assume I owe $9K balance on the loan and it is paid out of the settlement
- Discount Rate of 5%

2023.05.29 17:54 1N_Nothing I Hear Some of Y'all Are Hurting Financially - My Tips!
BLUF: This is long and just personal perspective. I understand a lot of you will disagree with some of the points, if you're able to read through the novel below. Feel free to provide tips/advice that you've learned over the years in the comments.
Yesterday there was a popular post on this subreddit where the OP asked how people were doing financially. I spent about an hour on that post just reading through people's comments, a lot of which were rather bleak in outlook. That post, and comments, are what drove me to make this post. I'll be upfront with this, I personally do not call myself "financially savvy," nor do I possess any financial planning qualifications. All I have to my name is some years of experience where I flip-flopped between fucking things up religiously and doing ok, followed by a few (5 or so) years (up until now) of doing things "right" in my mind's eye.
So, here's the deal. I've been a broke-ass E-3, E-4, E-5, and E-6. I've been a broke-ass single-income family with a wife and a kid. I've been a broke-ass single parent, going through a divorce. Mixed in with those "broke-ass" periods were other periods where I was financially stable and had very little financial stress. I'll get into the "Why" of that below. Around 5 years ago is when I decided to get my shit together financially; I did that as an E-6 and have thrived since. I'll be the first to acknowledge I have been fortunate in my career in the AF and am fully aware that promoting to E-7 and then going to OTS has contributed GREATLY to my financial security. But the paycheck alone is not a magical end-all-be-all to financial security; after all, I've met broke O-5's who are broke simply because they can't control their spending.
Enough with that, on to the advice:
- Address your relationship with your money. Your relationship with money is one of the single-most important relationships you will have during your lifetime (spouses/children/family aside). If you are indifferent towards your money, your results are likely to be disastrous. You are the architect of your financial success, own it and don't be indifferent. Also, they're right, stop buying Starbucks. It's not the Starbucks that is killing you, it's what the Starbucks represents. Impulsiveness. Impulsive nature is a financial wrecking ball. Truth be told, my own struggles and the struggles of many I've observed/helped have heavily been tied to impulsivity.
- Do some research on your financial behavior. Go back the last 6 months and add up ALL your expenditures by category; do this periodically even if you are financially stable, it's great homework. Put a dollar amount on how much you have spent on: groceries, eating out, car payments, car insurance, gas, cellphone, subscriptions, etc. I think you get the point. Do this so you can see exactly what you have been doing; this may be painful as you gain a new perspective on what you do. You'll already start to see some of the fat you can trim and, importantly, you will be able to get a baseline for the next tip. The budget.
- Build a budget and be disciplined. Earlier I mentioned how I personally had periods of being broke and financially stable periods, all at the same income level. The budget was the single-most critical factor in determining whether I would be broke or financially stable. I CANNOT possibly overstate the importance of developing your budget and following it in a disciplined manner. To develop your budget, use the data you acquired in the previous tip; with that data, you already know what areas you can or can't reduce spending in. Finally, your mentality towards your budget is probably harmful and needs to be addressed. People often view their budget as a financial prison, an automatic "No" to the things they'd like to do. But it's actually the absolute opposite. Your budget is the thing that provides you the ability to say "yes" responsibly to the things you want. I'll expand on how it's a "yes" later.
- Save for retirement first. After you have developed your budget, you'll have an idea of what you can spare for your retirement. Don't talk yourself out of it. Just set it and forget, you'll rarely find yourself in need of the money or realize it's even gone. The "save for retirement first" mentality and the budget are the two things that have turned my personal financial outlook around. For you BRS folks, shoot for 5% minimum to max the match. Never in your life will you get a 100% return on your investment, except for when you get that match. Even if you're in the old system, figure out a percentage you can do without and just contribute. I know right around now, some of you are probably in your own heads already screaming "I can't contribute if I don't have money," and I hear you. I do. Just realize, at this point, these things all have to work in tandem for you to be successful. Understanding how you spend feeds into reducing your expenditures and developing your budget, which in turn controls your impulsiveness and frees up money for contributions to retirement.
- Project your money. Projecting your money into your budget is what gives your budget the ability to tell you "yes" to things you want to do. Once your budget is developed, start funding the categories with the money in your bank account. There are some software options that make this incredibly easy. Personally, I started using YNAB a while ago and I love it. I've also used a calendar, a notebook, and the envelope system. Just find a method that works for you. Once you project your money and you know you have $100 sitting in your clothes category, you won't feel the same anxiety when you're considering purchasing something, because your budget is already telling you to go for it.
- Kill your debt. Place an emphasis on eliminating all of the debt in your life, aside from a mortgage. Life's far better when you don't have the stress of paying someone else on your mind. Free up the money you are spending on debt to do other things. No car payment means you have $500 extra a month to invest or enjoy.
Other pieces of advice:
- Credit cards. Stay the fuck away from them unless you are disciplined financially. Personally, I have an impulsive personality which is difficult for me to control, I don't have credit cards for this reason alone. If you are a disciplined person, I totally understand why you may choose to have a credit card.
- Transportation. Absolutely stay away from car related debt. From what I have observed, a car payment is a close second to impulsive nature when it comes to financial stress. Now, I'm not saying you can't have a decent reliable car, or a fun car if that's your hobby. Just stay away from debt and make your purchases in cash. Another relevant point here is to be reasonable in what car you need, or if you need a car at all. If you're an airman in the dorms, you can probably get away with no car in a lot of locations. While in the dorms, save for a car and make that purchase when you need one. If you are a family with only one person working, a single car will likely suffice. For a lot of folks, motorcycles are far cheaper to operate and an absolute blast. Public transportation is available in a lot of areas as well. As a MSgt, I drove a $1,200 Corolla with 200K+ miles on it as my commuter, drove it cross country a few times as well. I did this for a few years, and excluding gas, the cost of owning/operating that car was like $90 a month or something when I did the math. Super cheap!
- Vacations. They can be had for cheap. But like cars, be reasonable with what you can afford. Hawaii sounds fucking awesome, but it's not affordable for every person, especially at low-income levels. Look for things you can do more local and affordable, that are still enjoyable. The whole "a base is what you make of it" line of thinking somewhat feeds into this. I'm not saying Minot sucks cause you let it suck, Minot does suck. But, look for the things that you can do that don't drive up travel and lodging costs, that are still enjoyable for a vacation.
- For families with children, learn to shop for clothing cheap. I have 4 kids and our clothes, for the most part, come from places like Goodwill, Savers, Ross, etc. or they are purchased when clothes are on sale at places. When kids outgrow clothes, I donate them to the Airman's Attic.
- Groceries, get your shit under control. I don't know what else to say. I live in a HCOL area. I feed a family of 5 on less than $200 a week. And we eat pretty well. We don't have steak every night, but we do have steak. Learning to cook for yourself is a great thing. You'll always have high-quality food on tap. My wife and I's approach is that we cook dinner every night and have the leftovers for lunch. We tend to do 90% of our shopping on the outer ring of the grocery store, so think produce, dairy, meats, etc. We minimize our purchases of refined boxed foods.
- Hobbies. The hobbies you indulge should be determined by your financial state. If your broke as shit, don't go buy a GT-R because you're a car guy. Find a way to enjoy your hobbies in a way that is affordable or explore a lower cost hobby. Myself as an example, I'm a huge car guy. I do have a fun car at this point in life and one I am restoring, but they absolutely take a backseat when compared to other priorities like saving for retirement and putting food on the table. But to indulge in my car hobby, I volunteer at a local racetrack in my free time so I can be around what I love. It's been an awesome experience and costs no more than the gas to get to the track. Hiking and camping are incredible hobbies that are low cost and improve your mental and physical health. Anytime we can double up benefits, it's a good move.
- If you are low income, absolutely search out the benefits that are available you. WIC was available when I was an E-3 with a wife and kid. Don't be too proud to accept some of these resources. They're here for you, use them!
- Second job. Get one if necessary and if you can handle it. They suck, and you'll get burned out. But even if you can get one long enough to pull yourself out of debt, do it.
I think I'm done. I know that's a lot and it's not all inclusive, they're just major things I've noticed in others and myself over the years. Sorry if anything is disjointed in my ramblings.

2023.05.29 17:52 sammyranks Young Entrepreneur From Uganda, EAST Africa
I'm a 23 Year Old business owner from Uganda, East Africa living in a small town called Jinja which is not even the capital city of Uganda. This is sort of a motivation for all upcoming entrepreneurs from Africa.
Started my online computer business 3 years ago mainly building Gaming & Workstation Computers and selling other computer components. I import the Computer parts myself from China, USA & Dubai then build and deliver to my customers. First thing i did was to come up with a brand name, logo & a website to showcase my Computer Builds and more.
Uganda is a third world country and most people earn very little money anywhere from $100 to $250 for low skilled workers which are the majority in the capital city (Kampala) and online business was not as wide spread in 2020 as it is now a bit better in urban areas but that didn't demotivate me and i kept building & improving my business. I know a lot about computers, hardware & PC Building cause since i was little I've been interested in them.. i used play games on my dad's computer when i was like 6 years old.
My first year i made about $5K revenue which btw is a lot of money in my local currency (About 20 Million Ugandan Shillings)and my very first computer sale was from my friend who ordered a $1500 Gaming computer back in 2020. My Gaming Computers range from $500 up to $10,000 to cater for a wide range of my customer Budgets. Now in 2023 so far the business has made $17,000 (60 Million Uganda shillings) in revenue which is lots of cash in my local currency. In 2022, the business made about $19,000 in revenue. Surprisingly, i get orders from individual and cooperates which i thought would be possible cause of how expensive the computers are in my country.
I also have 2 Gaming YouTube channel as side hustle which are monetized and make me about $150 per month. I also recently started my E-Commerce business on Ebay and Amazon and trying to grow there too. I had a lot to say but had to cut it short.
To all young entrepreneurs out there, don't quit and keep Grinding as we all are. The hustle never stop.

2023.05.29 17:45 Try2buyhome-TA Critique my budget plan
Long time lurker - first time posting. Using a TA bc sharing money #s on my main makes me spooked.
I (23F) and my husband (25M) got married about 8 months ago. Both of us are very money conscious and one of the first things we did after combining finances was formulate a plan to attack all of our debt (at highest, totaled $38k and covered our 2 cars and student loans). So far we have paid off $23k - the remaining is $10k (all principle) in federal student loans, and ~$5k on his car loan (should be gone by September).
Being much closer to the end of our debt payoff plan has gotten us to start thinking about the next step of buying a home and starting a family. Looking around our area (which is set due to both of our jobs and my family being located here), I'm estimating we will need $60k in liquid cash to cover a 10% down payment, closing costs, and moving in expenses (aiming for a $350k-$450k home). We need at least 3 years to pull that in on our current salaries. Meanwhile our rent is increasing 11% this year after already increasing 12.5% last year, and I have no hope that it will level off in future years.
Our finances are as follows: Her: $80k annual salary Him: $59k annual salary, bumping to $70k in September Take home/month: $6300 (post health insurance, taxes, and retirement contributions). EF: $10,000 (covers all of our insurance deductibles) HYSA: $5,000 at 4.15% APR
Rent: $1800 (bumping to $2000 in September) Utilities: $230 (electric, water, phone, & internet) Medical expenses: $550 Groceries: $600 (includes all household goods like TP, etc - we usually shop these in bulk at Costco) Car insurance for 2 cars: $217 Car payment: $520 Miscellaneous: $350 Eating out: $130 Storage unit: $125 Savings: $400
The remaining ~$1400 has been going towards the debt payments (save for a few large purchases recently like new car tires). As soon as the debt is completely gone, we plan to put all the money we spent per month on it into our HYSA for the DP.
I thought that once we were debt free, it would be a lot easier, but it really doesn't look to be the case. I spend a couple hours every week trying to stretch our budget and get as much as possible out of it. It just feels like it's going to take forever and I can't even be confident that $60k will be enough in a few years to get a home that fits us. Am I crazy to think this?

2023.05.29 17:45 Jared_Harbert Swimming Pool Renovation in Florida: Enhancing Your Pool's Beauty and Functionality
| Swimming pools are a popular feature of many homes in Florida, providing a refreshing escape from the heat and a place to relax and unwind. Over time, however, pools may start to show signs of wear and tear, requiring renovation to restore their beauty and functionality. This article will explore the importance of swimming pool renovation, the process of hiring a professional pool builder in Jacksonville, and the benefits of working with a swimming pool contractor. Swimming Pool Renovation Importance of Swimming Pool Renovation Enhancing Aesthetics and Functionality One of the key reasons to consider renovating your swimming pool is to enhance its aesthetics and functionality. Over the years, styles and trends change, and what was once considered modern and attractive may now appear outdated. Renovation allows you to update the look of your pool, incorporating new materials, finishes, and features to create a more visually appealing and enjoyable space. Ensuring Safety and Compliance Another crucial aspect of pool renovation is ensuring safety and compliance with current regulations. Safety standards evolve over time, and your pool may no longer meet the required guidelines. Renovation provides an opportunity to address any safety concerns, such as installing updated fencing, improving lighting, or upgrading filtration systems, to ensure a safe swimming environment for you and your loved ones. Increasing Property Value A well-maintained and renovated swimming pool can significantly increase the value of your property. When potential buyers or renters see a beautifully renovated pool, it adds to the overall appeal of the property. Renovating your pool not only enhances your enjoyment but also becomes a valuable investment that can yield returns in the future. Hiring a Professional Pool Builder in Jacksonville Researching Pool Builders When it comes to renovating your swimming pool, it's crucial to hire a professional pool builder with experience in handling renovation projects. Start by researching pool builders in Jacksonville who specialize in pool renovations. Look for companies with a strong reputation, positive customer reviews, and a portfolio of successful pool renovation projects. Checking Credentials and Experience Before finalizing a pool builder, check their credentials and experience. Ensure they hold the necessary licenses and certifications required by the state of Florida. A reputable pool builder will have a team of skilled professionals with expertise in pool renovations. Evaluating Previous Projects To gain confidence in their capabilities, evaluate the pool builder's previous renovation projects. Look for testimonials or before-and-after photos that showcase their work. This will give you a sense of their attention to detail, quality of craftsmanship, and ability to transform pools. Understanding the Renovation Process Assessment and Design The renovation process typically begins with an assessment of your existing pool and a consultation to discuss your renovation goals. A pool designer will work with you to create a design plan that incorporates your vision, functionality requirements, and budget. Demolition and Construction Once the design is finalized, the renovation process moves on to demolition, where any necessary removals or modifications are made. This could involve removing outdated or damaged materials, reconfiguring the pool layout, or expanding the pool size. Construction follows, including structural work, plumbing, and electrical installations. Plumbing and Electrical Considerations During pool renovation, it's essential to address any plumbing or electrical issues. Upgrading plumbing lines, pumps, and filters can improve the efficiency and performance of your pool. Similarly, updating electrical systems ensures proper functionality and adherence to safety standards. Finishing Touches and Landscaping As the renovation nears completion, attention shifts to the finishing touches. This includes selecting new pool finishes, tiles, coping, and decking options that align with your desired aesthetic. Landscaping around the pool area can also enhance the overall appeal and create a harmonious outdoor space. Cost Factors and Budgeting Materials and Equipment The cost of swimming pool renovation depends on various factors, including the materials and equipment used. Higher-quality materials, such as premium tiles or custom finishes, will contribute to a higher budget. Additionally, if your renovation involves incorporating new features like waterfalls, slides, or spas, the cost will increase accordingly. Pool Size and Complexity The size and complexity of your pool renovation project will significantly impact the overall cost. Larger pools require more materials and labor, increasing the budget. Similarly, if your pool has unique features or intricate designs, additional expertise and time will be required, affecting the cost. Additional Features and Upgrades When renovating your pool, you may want to consider adding extra features or upgrades. This could include energy-efficient equipment, automation systems, or LED lighting. While these additions can enhance the functionality and enjoyment of your pool, they will contribute to the overall cost. Expertise and Knowledge One of the primary benefits of hiring a swimming pool contractor for your renovation project is their expertise and knowledge. They understand the complexities involved in pool renovations and can provide valuable insights and recommendations based on their experience. A professional contractor will ensure that your renovation is executed efficiently and to the highest standards. Efficient Project Management Renovating a swimming pool involves coordinating multiple tasks and trades, such as demolition, construction, plumbing, and electrical work. A swimming pool contractor manages the project from start to finish, ensuring smooth communication between different teams and timely completion of each phase. This saves you the hassle of organizing and overseeing every aspect of the renovation. Warranty and Support Working with a reputable swimming pool contractor offers the advantage of warranties and post-renovation support. If any issues arise after the completion of the renovation, the contractor will address them promptly and efficiently. This provides peace of mind and ensures that you can enjoy your renovated pool without worrying about potential problems. Conclusion Swimming pool renovation in Florida is a significant investment that can enhance the beauty, functionality, and value of your pool. By hiring a professional pool builder in Jacksonville, you can benefit from their expertise, efficient project management, and access to quality materials. Remember to consider your budget, prioritize safety, and explore additional features that can elevate your pool experience. Enjoy the process of transforming your pool into a stunning oasis that provides enjoyment for years to come. FAQs 1. How long does a pool renovation typically take? The duration of a pool renovation varies depending on the complexity of the project. Minor renovations may take a few weeks, while more extensive renovations can take several months. A reputable pool builder will provide you with a timeline based on your specific renovation requirements. 2. Can I renovate my pool myself? Renovating a swimming pool is a complex task that requires specialized knowledge and expertise. It is recommended to hire a professional pool builder who has experience in pool renovations. They possess the necessary skills and equipment to ensure a successful and safe renovation. 3. What are some popular pool renovation trends? Some popular pool renovation trends include incorporating natural stone or mosaic tiles, adding water features such as waterfalls or fountains, integrating energy-efficient equipment, and creating a seamless transition between the pool and outdoor living spaces. 4. How much does it cost to renovate a swimming pool? The cost of pool renovation varies depending on factors such as the size of the pool, the extent of renovations, the materials used, and additional features. It is best to consult with a pool builder to get an accurate estimate based on your specific renovation goals. 5. Are there any maintenance requirements after pool renovation? After pool renovation, regular maintenance is essential to keep your pool in optimal condition. This includes routine cleaning, checking water chemistry, maintaining proper water levels, and servicing equipment as needed. Your pool builder or contractor can provide guidance on post-renovation maintenance to ensure the longevity of your pool. submitted by Jared_Harbert to u/Jared_Harbert [link] [comments] |

I have $200k in cash. I’ve maxed out my RRSP, tfsa, I have low interest rate mortgages, 3 properties. What do I do to max out my return on the $200k? Buy another investment property, invest in stocks, renovate my principal residence, buy a business, etc? I want the greatest return. Tia

I have a 3.4 Waka in plain jane configuration. I love this knife but I picked something up so law of equivalent exchange says this one must go. The knife is in perfect condition. Knife has only been carried, never used. Original edge, original everything. No blemishes to point out. Comes with original hard case and SEALED CoA. I will entertain trades, but kinda inclined to sell. I'm looking mainly for other customs + cash. I'm interested in satin blades, and knives that are within the 3-3.25'' range. Let me know what you have or any questions.

2023.05.29 17:28 ImNejifer Converted to blue badge today! Also picking is… something
I’ve only been working at my sortation center for about 3½ weeks and was already converted to a blue badge. I guess I was just surprised seeing as so many people seem to complain that it takes ages to convert. Super happy about it though, especially with the small raise that comes with it lol.
I got put on pick yesterday for the first time and I was so awful at it… I felt horrible for my coworker who kept having to help me with packages that were getting piled up. I honestly don’t know if my brain can process the numbers that fast. I’ve only been stowing these 3 weeks and I’ve gotten pretty good at it. Still haven’t asked about my rates but I would imagine they aren’t too bad. But picking… I dunno man. I know they’re wanting to cross-train a couple new people but I wish there was an option to just like.. refuse to train for picking.
Side note - do the colors that light up in stow mean anything? I know this is a basic ass question but I would feel stupid asking someone about it IRL. Whenever I’m stowing, sometimes the colors will just switch up. It’ll be purple one minute and the next, yellow. A minute later, green. I read somewhere that the colors are randomly assigned to you, but then why do mine change so much if that’s the case?
Anywho! If you’re reading this and looking for a sign to work and not take that VTO today, this is it. Think of that extra cash money~ 🤑

2023.05.29 17:24 Whinito ESSP strategies with 50 % match after 3 years of holding
I'm looking for some sparring when deciding how much to contribute to the next period of Employee Share Savings Plan for my company.
TL;DR: Company matches 50 % of number of shares purchased after a ~3 year holding period, ability to contribute up to 5 % of gross salary towards plan. Looking into selling vested stock to actually max contribution at 5 %, where half of contribution would come from sold stock
Here are the ESSP rules: You can save up to 5 % of your gross monthly salary (taken out of net salary) with a fixed minimum, savings period runs Q3 through Q2. 10 days after each quarterly earnings report, accumulated cash including dividends are automatically and without fees used to buy company stock at market price. If you hold your stock and stay at the company for the ~3 year duration of the plan, you are awarded with a 50 % match to the number of bought shares, half of which is paid in actual company stock, the other half being paid in cash (to cover taxes). Some clarifications: you forfeit matching if you leave the company or do anything stupid, but if you're let go you're still entitled to matching shares. Savings for new plan start in Q3 2023 and matching shares are awarded in February 2027, so it's about 3 years.
I've been with the company for some time and have participated in 4 programs, so I was awarded my first matching shares early this year. I've previously been contributing something in between minimum and 2,5 %, depending on what the stock was trading at when enlisting, but the price has been quite volatile recently so that of course doesn't last throughout the plan. Most of the shares bought in the now vested plan have seen a significant rise, the Covid-dip happening during the plan of course helped, but the stock is also trading at its previous historical max. While I can see myself staying with the company, and recently accepted a new position within the company with a significant jump in salary, the promised match in any plan is not so significant that I couldn't accept a job at another company.
Company info: Industrial company operating in a cyclic market. The company itself is stable and consistently profitable, and I'd say it has improved significantly, i.e. it is in a much better position than at any point during the previous 5 years, especially regarding profitability. Significant amount of profits come from aftermarkets activities while market cycle obviously affect new sales, but the orderbook is currently record high and recent earnings call have all been very strong, both regarding profit and order intake (no guarantees it lasts if inflation keeps improving though).
My financial situation: We get a state pension, so no need to save in 401k, IRA's etc. as per the prime directive. That said, I've been investing between 10-15 % of my net pay, and company stock is currently 8 % of my investment portfolio, but 2,5 % of that is already vested and I'm free to sell them. It would be even less, but I got carried away gambling on individual stocks with the play-part of my investment accounts, and those have seen significant losses. Index funds are >70 % of my portfolio and I've almost exclusively contributed to those the last 1½ years.
Considerations:
- Tax rate for capital gains is 30 % for small amounts
- There is no capital gains tax at all if the price of all sold investments during that year is less than ~70 % of values of vested shares. So I could sell in two portions during both years
- However there are fees associate with selling both through the ESSP administrator, or transferring them to another broker with lower fees. In practice, a transfer and two selling events are priced equally to outright selling everything through ESSP administrator, anymore than that and the costs would be too high for my taste.
- Shares are sold First In, First Out, so I'm technically selling shares still waiting to be matched; you only need to own the same number of bought shares to receive the match. This also means that the last portion of "vested" shares were bought at post-covid boom levels and trading at same level currently.
My plan: Current market price of already vested shares, both bought and rewarded, would be half of my max contributions for the year, and there's a 33 % profit the vested shares combined. I've previously been unwilling to invest such a big portion of my investment contributions into company stock, but having shares vested now allows me to offset it. So that's why I'm considering selling vested shares to reduce weight of my employer stock in my portfolio, but still maxing future share matching. A 50 % match is a (diluted after 3 years) 50 % match, with significant risk, both positive and negative associated with future share price. I'm willing to take that risk.
I'd likely sell in two portions for both tax and timing (spreading out risk) reasons. Only thing to consider then is whether to lump-sum those sales in index funds or whether to DCA them throughout the year, but I'm leaning towards just lump-summing in as I think that is statistically the best choice.
Thoughts?
