2023.05.29 15:55 autotldr Chief of Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence to Russia: Those who tried to intimidate us will soon regret it

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 31%. (I'm a bot)
After the 29 May missile attack on Ukraine, Major General Kyrylo Budanov, Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, has said that Russia's latest attempt to intimidate Ukrainians had failed and that "The response will not be delayed".
"Quote:"Another attempt at terrorist actions by the Russian Federation has once again failed.
All those in the Russian Federation who still believed, believe or maybe dream that they could intimidate Ukraine, I want to upset you - this is not true: everyone has been and is still at their workplaces and continues to do their jobs.
Details: Budanov has shared this statement after Russia attempted to attack Ukraine with ballistic missiles on the morning of 29 May 2023.
According to Valerii Zaluzhnyi, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 11 ballistic and cruise missiles hit Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast that morning, all of which were shot down.
Missile debris fell in several districts of the capital.

2023.05.29 15:41 Veeeeenie Am I regretting it?

I live with my husband and in-laws. I would’ve wanted to have our own crib but we thought na mag-ipon muna para di kami mahirapan. We could’ve stayed sa side ko pero nahiya si husband kasi strict yung nanay ko.
I am currently working with the govt and husband is an entrepreneur.
I just felt like bakit parang ako nlg yung kumakayod sa aming dalawa? His venture was financed by me. Savings ko nagamit dun. Kahit backpay sa previous work binigay ko sa kanya kasi I thought, I really wanted to support him. I paid for his debts too. Kahit na parang konti nlg sweldo ko, binigay ko halos lahat para mabayaran renta sa shop nya kasi hindi pa stable ang sales.
I am just so thankful that his family is supporting us. Kung kapos kami, MIL would give us some cash para ma rolling sa business nya.
Pero bakit parang inaasa nya nlg sa mom nya whenever kapos kami?
By the way, aside from my job, I have two other side hustles to provide for us. We have a child, he is 3.
Sorry, maybe toxic lang ako? Or was I expecting too much from him? Or maybe I was not doing enough.
Ang hirap. Ang hirap maging mahirap.

2023.05.29 15:20 themistyeyes_406 Balik Government or Stay?

I’m torn choosing between going back to working sa government agency or stay sa current work ko.
For context, nagwowork ako sa private company and vendor ako. Oks naman wala pa masyado project and petiks pa since WFH then nagfreelance rin ako for extra money rin since dami ko rin bayarin pero biglang nagoffer sakin and sure hire na might start in the coming weeks.
Full time Corporate Job: 41k Freelance: 37k Perks: WFH until further notice pero BGC lang Cons: Low salary progression
Government: 100k Perks: Career + salary progression Cons: 3 days onsite and I’m from Parañaque pa then work is sa QC 🥲
Nung isang araw nagiisip ako na parang ayoko na mag aim ng mataas na position mas oks na sakin na may sahod ako kesa makipag kumpetensya sa position pero biglang dumating tong offer na to.
Need to decide bukas rin. Diko sya kaya pagsabayin since onsite yung isa. Haaay turn down ko ba?

2023.05.29 15:13 saltpinecoast Finding out if my grandfather worked for the Luftwaffe or other Nazi institutions

My grandfather (a US citizen) made frequent trips to Germany from 1930 to 1939. According to my father, he mentioned working for the Luftwaffe during at least one of his stays in Germany. Possibly as a language teacher, but that’s not certain.
He may also have been in Germany secretly at some point between May 1940 and May 1941.
From 1936-1938 he was married to a German/Austrian woman he met in Berlin. Her grandchildren tell me she and her father worked for the “Göring ministry.” They didn’t specify which one, but that lends credibility to the idea that my grandfather may have worked for the Luftwaffe or a related institution.
I’d love some advice about how to best go about figuring out what my Grandfather was up to on these trips, specifically:
I already checked invenio
No trace of him. I did find NSDAP correspondence related to his wife (and maybe his in-laws). That’s in Lichterfelde. I happen to live in Berlin, so I can go in person to see what those documents are.
Questions about next steps
  1. Should I make a general inquiry at the Bundesarchiv about my grandfather, or start with a specific inquiry for Luftwaffe employee records with the Personenbezogene Auskünfte – PA department? I'm already familiar with these instructions.
  2. Will they send me scans or photocopies of documents, or do I have to go in person?
  3. Is there any advantage to doing the inquiry in German instead of English? I speak German well, but I have an illness that causes cognitive impairment and it will be much easier for me to do it in English.
  4. What should I put in the field “Benutzungsthema” on the Benutzungsantrag?
Thanks in advance for any help or advice anyone can offer!!

2023.05.29 15:00 autotldr Indian official suspended for draining dam to retrieve smartphone

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 48%. (I'm a bot)
A government official in central India has been suspended from his job after he ordered a water reservoir to be drained to retrieve his smartphone, which he had dropped while taking a selfie.
Over the next three days, more than 2 million litres of water was pumped out from the reservoir, which was enough to irrigate at least 1,500 acres of land during India's scorching summer, local media reported.
Vishwas told local media the water in the reservoir was unusable for irrigation and that he had received permission from a senior official to drain it.
"Officials of irrigation department told me water was not being used by farmers and I could empty it by 3 feet , so I got the water drained into a canal and made it usable," he was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
Authorities later suspended Vishwas after he was widely criticised for wasting water resources.
India is one of the most water-stressed countries and extreme temperatures lead to severe water scarcity, causing crop losses, forest fires and cuts to power.

2023.05.29 15:00 stonescoldtakes NFL Update: 05/22/2023 - 05/28/2023 - OTAs are Back!!!

— Individual Team News + Stone’s Cold Takes
— Miscellaneous/Other NFL News
— Restaurant of the Week - Washington D.C.
Arizona Cardinals:
After some decent news the last couple weeks for this organization there wasn’t really anything great from this week besides maybe the fact that if WR DeAndre Hopkins was a distraction to the team he now no longer is one. It will be interesting to see how things play out this year.
Atlanta Falcons:
It sounds like the situation with Keith Smith should get resolved rather quickly and was more of a misunderstanding than anything else. It will be fun for this young team to have joint practices with Miami and it will be a good way for their defense to get an initial test from an elite offense. I am sure the Dolphins won’t reveal all of their tricks but either way they will have to worry about guarding an elite offense with elite playmakers.
Baltimore Ravens:
It is crazy to think about how just about a month ago the news around the Ravens was all negative and that it seemed like the relationship with Lamar was fractured. Now here we are and Lamar seems about as happy as can be and is excited about the offense that is being installed under new OC Todd Monken. It will be exciting for him as well to have WR Rashod Bateman back who I still think can be a key playmaker on the team. It appears the Ravens could be set for big things even in a tough division.
Buffalo Bills:
Great to see the that S Damar Hamlin was back out practicing. I know it has been some time since his collapse on the field but it still feels like yesterday that I was watching that game in complete shock at what I had witnessed and worry for him and his family. WR Stefon Diggs being absent at OTAs is not a big deal to me. QB Josh Allen has a lot of other guys he needs to get familiar and work in with anyways and a lot of star players don’t attend OTAs to either get rest/recovery or to do their own workouts with their private coaches. I imagine he and Kincaid will be deadly this year and who knows they may even have WR DeAndre Hopkins joining them as the Bills were one of two teams that inquired and had talks about a trade for him.
Carolina Panthers:
Not too much news here other than what we saw and heard from OTAs about Bryce Young getting to take most of the 1st team reps. It appears that he looked good and his teammates were saying great things about him. It is tough to judge any quarterback though in the offseason because no matter what folks always say their young or new quarterback is looking amazing and things are progressing nicely. I will say though I have heard the most good things coming out from camps about him and Anthony Richardson of the Colts.
Chicago Bears:
Good news for Chicago fans who are excited for their move. It seems that things are proceeding nicely with the process of moving to a new stadium. Also, great to hear that Chase Claypool may be able to make more of a difference this year. It would be hard to be less effective than what he was last year for this team. I still believe he can be a major impact player like many expected him to be when he entered the league. It will be key for him to become Fields’ go to receiver over some of the other talent they have on the team.
Cincinnati Bengals:
This team has a lot to do in terms of contracts that they need to get figured out. The team view Tee Higgins in very high regard and so does Joe Burrow as they should. They also really want to get Logan Wilson signed. However, what will come out to being the biggest of the contracts they do this offseason is that of Joe Burrow. What will continue to make things tough here is the longer it takes for Justin Hebert to get his deal done because Burrow will likely be the last of the 4 quarterbacks to sign his because it is presumed he will get the most money and has an agent who like to wait til the last minute.
Cleveland Browns:
All good news for Browns fans so far. The team is looking good and their appears to be a lot of good vibes coming out of practice. WR DeAndre Hopkins is even considering coming to Cleveland for the chance to play with his old QB. Also, WR Elijah Moore is looking crisp and at least for the moment it appears he is much happier. It will all depend on if he actually gets the ball thrown to him during the season though.
Dallas Cowboys:
Not too much news here which is good for this franchise because they are almost always the center of attention. The main thing I took away from this week was just that things seems to be going well with McCarthy and Dak working together on the offense but that there have been some growing pains at least initially getting used to new systems as expected.
Denver Broncos:
It appeared to shock just about everyone when the news broke about K Brandon McManus getting released because he had become a fan favorite over the years in Denver. QB Russell Wilson has lost a lot of weight and it is evident just from seeing him this offseason. I didn’t think his weight was the issue hindering him last year but hopefully he can feel he is playing at a healthier weight. What I think most Denver fans were excited to see was RB Javonte Williams back on the practice field. He is going to end up being the real difference maker this year and whether this team competes with the top of the AFC or not will largely depend on him making the rest of the offense’s life easy or not.
Detroit Lions:
A lot of news here. Let’s start with the bad news. It appears that they may be having more penalties come down on their team/players due to the league’s gambling policy as their is an ongoing investigation into a 5th player from the team. Also, David Montgomery and Malcolm Rodriguez left the field with injuries. It is still early though and they appear to be minor injuries so hopefully it won’t affect them in the long term. Now some good news. It sounds like WR Jameson Williams is progressing nicely and the team got a new kicker in Riley Patterson from the Jaguars who should help the improve there. Lastly and maybe the biggest news is that Calvin “Megatron” Johnson was at OTAs hanging out with coaches and players. Many are hoping those good vibes carry over into the season.
Green Bay Packers:
Exciting news that Green Bay will get the draft in 2025! I was thinking they would try and stick to more southern states but they clearly are willing to go North with Detroit and now Green Bay being the hosts of the next two. HC Matt LaFleur appears to be being honest with everything and trying to temper expectations a bit with Jordan Love taking over. This could be to help take pressure off of Love and also just be the flat out truth that with any young quarterback it is going to take some time.
Houston Texans:
I am not surprised about DeMeco Ryans hesitancy about pursuing Jadeveon Clowney. First of all he just may not want to reveal his cards to others in the league about what he is thinking. The other thing is that he is one that likes for his defense to have an identity and a really good work ethic. I am not saying that Clowney can’t fit that mold but it just makes the selection process for what Ryans wants on defense that much more thorough. The other news that surprised some but something I mentioned a couple of weeks ago is that QB Davis Mills will compete with Stroud for the starting job and is viewed as a desirable QB to other teams around the league. I know his stats haven’t been the best but I am not sure any of the young quarterbacks would have done well with what the Texans organization has been the last couple years. At the end of the day CJ Stroud will end up being the team’s starter due to draft status and probably will be the more talented, better option.
Indianapolis Colts:
Overall things seems to be good for the organization. The main thing we are all waiting on is when Shaq Leonard will be able to get back out there and start practicing. It makes sense not to have him practicing now since things are optional anyways. The hype has been there for QB Anthony Richardson thus far and it appears he may be closer to starting right away than a lot of people thought.
Jacksonville Jaguars:
Not too much news out of Jacksonville other than the change at the kicker position. Things got busy and they were able to trade K Riley Patterson to the Lions rather than release like the reports had said prior. Then they went out and got a proven veteran in K Brandon McManus who had just been released from the Broncos squad. This team is going to be interesting this year and will go as far QB Trevor Lawrence can take them. Does not hurt to have the veteran kicker for the big moments that could be coming for this organization.
Kansas City Chiefs:
HC Andy Reid who normally is pretty quiet and doesn’t get too involved was in front of the media a lot this week it felt like. First, he is not a fan of the new kickoff rule and it appears most coaches are not. Second, he talked about how the team will not be using a FB because they are being phased out of the NFL and he feels that the TEs they have on the team can play the role when needed. Overall it seems things are going well for the Chiefs and things could be a going a lot better here soon as they appear to be a top option for WR DeAndre Hopkins and one the few teams that had trade talks before he was released.
Las Vegas Raiders:
It appears there is never a dull week with the Raiders. The news this week about Jimmy seem to add context potentially to what Davante Adams’ comments were about recently. With Tom Brady recently joining the ownership group here it makes us all wonder if the injury is not cleared up is there a way for him to un-retire once again…only time will tell.
Los Angeles Chargers:
Big news here getting the deal done with Austin Ekeler even if it still only keeps him around for 1 year. Thankfully now he should be semi-happy for that one year before he can go out and chase a big contract if he wants to.
Los Angeles Rams:
Not much news here really. Sounds like Matthew Stafford has taken Stetson Bennett under his wing and started to work with him and help him learn more about the transition to the NFL compared to college.
Miami Dolphins:
I loved seeing Tua wearing the helmet cam. I had not thought about it before but it should be great for him to be able to show McDaniel exactly what he is/was seeing out on the field to add context and allow McDaniel to better coach him and understand what is going on. I think this should be something all quarterbacks do and especially the top ones because it could gives coaches that much more information and a better understanding of how to help young quarterbacks in the future.
Minnesota Vikings:
All signs appear to be pointing towards RB Dalvin Cook getting released. In other news it will be good for the defense to develop the aggressive mindset that Brian Flores wants and should bring in the attitude from Miami that wad established during his time there that was so effective and led to them winning games.
New England Patriots:
The Patriots seems to always be up to something. It sounds like they were penalized the 2 days of OTAs and fined because of a meeting that Joe Judge held that lasted more than the permitted amount of time. Other tough news came when Raekwon McMillan got injured.
New Orleans Saints:
What a story. TE Foster Moreau finds out he has cancer in a physical with the team a couple months and gets ahead of things and is now practicing with them at OTAs. Interesting story here about former HC Jon Gruden working with the team because during his time with the Raiders many said that he and Carr did not get along. This team has a big opportunity to take over the NFC South and is probably the bet setup to do it with the team they have.
New York Giants:
It seems that everything is going great except the Saquon Barkley situation. There isn’t much new insight into it either after HC Daboll refused to speak on anything contract related. In good news it seems like TE Darren Waller is really enjoying being with the team and working with QB Daniel Jones. This is a team to me that is going to play inspired football like they did last year no matter what is going on because their HC.
New York Jets:
I imagine Jets fans held their breath when they saw Aaron Rodgers get injured as well as Allen Lazard. The good news is that those are not going to be issues in the long run. However, it reminded us all that QB Aaron Rodgers is not a young guy anymore and there is always the possibility that he like any other player in the NFL can get hurt. Hopefully the deal with Quinnen Williams can get done sooner rather than later. I am looking forward to the joint practices with the Bucs because they have a solid defense and it will be fun to hear how they fare in the early phases of implementing a lot of things from both Nathaniel Hackett and Aaron Rodgers.
Philadelphia Eagles:
Jordan Davis is going to be a key piece for the team this year in my opinion so it is great to hear he has made major strides. He is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to his sheer size and the more he can be weaponized the better.
Pittsburgh Steelers:
Great move to get Markus Golden. He can be dangerous in this defense and is only one season removed from a double digit sack year. Also, good to see that Robinson and Pickett appear to be getting along. I am curious to see who shakes out to be the #1 receiver on this team but have a feeling it will end up being Pickens because of how good he was last year and the chemistry he and Pickett already have. A QB likes it when his receiver makes life easier and bails him out. Pickens has already done that on multiple occasions for him.
San Francisco 49ers:
It is official the 49ers will host the 2026 Super Bowl! After speculations and rumors it finally became official this past week. Also, there was a lot of good QB news this week with all 3 of the QBs on the roster. Sounds like Brock Purdy is healing properly and as expected, Trey Lance is looking really good in OTAs along with Sam Darnold. Once again this offseason no one is sure who will be starting for the team come week 1.
Seattle Seahawks:
Good news for Seahawks fan that Tariq Woolen will be back around training camp time after his procedure. Other than that there was not much news here. They got a solid rotational/depth player in Artie Burns though.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers:
Great to see that Tampa has joint practices with the Jets. They have a tough defense and it will be good for Baker and the offense to get some work against that defense early on. The Bucs have some great weapons on the offensive side of the ball to really compete with those top defenses and if they can all stay healthy this team could be a dark horse team to watch. Overall this should be a good all around team.
Tennessee Titans:
Interesting to see that S Kevin Byard was not at OTAs after earlier this offseason it was rumored he was asked to take a pay cut. Definitely a situation to watch. The main news that came from OTAs is that QB Will Levis appears to be looking good and some folks think he could be putting pressure on Tannehill early on and moving himself up the depth chart.
Washington Commanders:
Feels like a lot happened with the Commanders. First off, I think QB Sam Howell is in a great spot to learn and develop this year with mentors like Jacoby Brissett and then his OC Eric Bieniemy. They will hold him accountable like has already been happening and help bring out the best in him. Now it definitely is an organization surrounded by distractions. First off the trademark application for the team’s name was denied and they hope to get something figured out but could lead to another name change. Also, the team is still working through the Josh Harris bid and there need to be some adjustments in order for it to get accepted by the other NFL Owners and the league. These distractions even though they may not always be good for the team they probably do help a young quarterback because he is not the only thing to talk about at this point in the offseason.
Miscellaneous/Other NFL News:

Restaurant of the Week: (Washington D.C. - TACOS 5 DE MAYO)
Don’t really have a great picture of this place but that may be a good thing. Often times I find that the places least advertised and that are holes in the wall is typically where you get the best Mexican food. This place is about a 10 minute drive from the stadium and probably closer to 15-20 minutes on game days depending on the time you go. Personally I recommend the Tacos Al Pastor. Those are basically a marinated pork taco that is slightly spicy with some sweet pineapple flavor in it. You cannot go wrong with Tacos Al Pastor and are by far my favorite. The other thing to keep an eye on is the Pupusas. While Pupusas are from El Salvador this place actually does a pretty dang good job of making them. For those that don’t know what Pupusas are they kind of resemble a stuffed pancake but are made of corn in most cases stuffed with either just cheese, cheese and beans, or cheese and pork. My order here would be 3 tacos al pastor and a cheese and bean pupusa. Enjoy!

2023.05.29 12:56 EssayDistinct DevOps Career Path Advice

Hello. I am a web developer before with 4 yrs exp and planning to shift my career as a DevOps Engineer. I am not sure if it's okay lang mag ask dito.
I tried to apply last week sa Linkedin and may tatlo akong inaasahan. And eto yung alam ko palang, I am not sure if ano ang magandang piliin sakanila. SM palang yung may job offer.
I'm a web developer and my current salary is 120k. Plano ko mag shift dahil mas nakikita ko career ko with devops unlike sa web dev and nagsasawa na ko mag dev. Mas nag eenjoy ako mag automate and design ng infra haha. 1 yr exp pa lang ako with infra like docker, aws, bash, etc.

Not sure po if ano ang pipiliin ko sa tatlo. Yung current employer ko kasi is a startup company and independent contractor po ako kaya mataas ang salary, no govn benefits din and other benefits like sl/vl. But pumapayag naman po pag may emergency, need ko nalang i-OT sa ibang araw yung leave ko.

2023.05.29 10:56 Better_Ad_6848 [UPLB] Incoming 4th year can't shift kasi b*b*

So ayon, di na naman ako makakashift ngayon sem kasi diko nanaman abot minimum. Usto ko lang naman mag aral ng gusto ko lord plsplspls
For context, 1.9+ gwa tapos after 3 sems projected to be 1.75+. Tangina underload na nga ako tapos dko pa magawang mapataas tong mga grades ko kahit ang mga units na kinukuha ko matataas nakukuha ng iba ano ba meron. Diagnosed ako with MDD tapos maraming iniisip sa buhay, pero honestly I feel na I gave it my all. Hindi rin pwede mag appeal. Hindi ko na afford tumagal pa (mag jujunior standing pa lang due to LOA and others), pero ayoko na talaga ng course ko (engg).
What do I do from here? ComSci sana target ko (1.75), due to interest and probable ease kumuha ng remote work(?). We're poor etc. so finding a job sana na remote to lessen costs would really help. Plan ko sana mag shift to Stat muna to take CMSC courses tapos shift ulet pero pwede ba yon huhu ewan ko na. Even if ma meet ko kasi minimum the competition is still there so idk if may pag asa ba ako.
Should I just shift and shift again or mag reality check na ba ako one last time para iyakan ko na lang to
also planning to choose Stat kasi if I ever decide to stay, mas related(?) siya sa field

2023.05.29 10:44 junkie_monk ABYG/KBYG (Kami ba yung gago, haha!) Kung based sa financial capacity ng other party kung saan kami magddate?

I (31M) was catching up with the boys, it's the usual boys talk over bottles; life, work, hobbies, etc. One friend of mine, let's call him Josh, shared that he had been seeing a girl for almost half a year already. They are having dinner dates almost every week, the yewsh ligaw stage/situationship stage where nobody's trying to ask what's the deal.
So recently, napapadalas daw ang pag-yayaya ni girl sa mga mamahaling restau and nagsesend pa ng reels about food/travel/lifestyle. I asked Josh who pays for dinner dates, he said he is the one paying, which he said he doesn't mind. Mayaman si Josh and has a good job and a business at the side, so money really doesn't matter, napansin niya lang recently na napapadalas magyaya ng labas si girl at pamahal nang pamahal yung mga pinupuntahan nila. Josh asked us a question, is this an eatly warning sign na gold-digger yung girl, or it's just namihasa na lang din yung girl.
The response from most of the boys is a loud YES! Can't blame them, it's looking after a bro. I said that we should take a step back since we don't know the girl. So Josh told us a short background of the girl (27F), HR at a BPO company, family is from the middle-class, renting an apartment with a co-worker, and as Josh would say, a little bit irresponsible on her finances. Josh said he doesn't mind spending at all, especially if he's the one who brought up the idea, napapadalas lang talaga na si girl and nagyayaya at nagdedecide saan sila pupunta, to which he feels uncomfortable. We asked if there was a time she offered to pay for the bill or offered to split it, Josh said, there were only two occasions during their first 5 dates.
Hindi din naman lumaking mayaman si Josh, whatever he has right now, pinaghirapan niya. He then thought that it is just fair that if you are bringing up an idea for a date, you better be sure you can afford it or split the bill at least. Sabi nga ng isa naming barkada, "ilugar ang kaartehan kung san abot ang paycheck", to which I got a bit mindblown and agreed. I mean, I know for a fact that our ligaw culture is all about putting your best foot forward but I think healthy boundaries can be established early on. Josh said that this girl is trying to get him to agree to get a reservation somewhere serving caviar and sh*t, to which Josh tried bailed out by telling her he booked a solo trip somehwere to relax.
So.... Kami ba yung gago kung ibabase namin sa financial capacity ng kadate namin kung worth it ba or hindi yung date? HAHA!
TL;DR Nag-agree ako sa friend ko na kung if sa tingin niya na hindi naman afford nung kadate namin yung suggested nilang place/date, he better not go for it.

currently in a big 4 audit firm now with just a year of experience on it audit, BPR, analytics, etc. if i leave the big 4 ng less than 2 years of work expi, pakiramdam ko kulang pa mga natutunan ko lalo na dahil vast ang engagements ko and i cant seem to master a certain field dahil i get assigned to many types of IT engagements.
supposedly, next year kukunin na ko ng fiance ko sa states but i am anxious about my work expi. are two years enough to land me a decently paying job in the cybersec or it audit? pretty sure ill be able to land a job naman abroad but not sure if in line with the IT consulting field i want. any advices or at least pampalubag loob success stories abroad in the same or related field?

2023.05.29 08:42 IndustryOk5619 Fear of missing out Engineer

Hello fellow engineers/people of phcareers. Im a fresh board passer (ME) early this year, no work experience. Been job hunting na for the past few months and di maiwasang mafrustrate sa offers ng mga entry level engineering jobs considering sa tution fee na ginastos makapagtapos lang, also the expenses for the half-year review.
I read a lot of fellow filipino engineers (all trades) na nagcareer shift na into tech, although marami na satin ang nagsisilipatan, meron pa po bang mga nagdecide mag stay and naniniwala na may future and opportunities pa tayong mga engineers dito sa pilipinas.
Also, meron po ba ditong mga Mechanical Engineers na nasa design field whether employed or freelancing and working remotely? Baka you can share some tips naman po how to start in the design field and anong mga softwares ang talagang naging niche nyo sa industry natin.

2023.05.29 06:39 xyzidek NBSB good girl (21F) is falling for R4R ideal boy (21M) she's never met irl, is it stupid lol how to landi responsibly 🥹

**this'll be a long one, sorry 💀
might be cringe but yes, i'm the textbook good girl: nbsb, soft-spoken, mahinhin, nice, scholar & consistent achieveawardee, creative skills, the ate/mom friend that everyone wonders bakit wala pang jowa 🤡
and most importantly, the person you'd least expect to be lurking in phr4r lol insert disclaimer na i don't go there anymore at di naman ako madalas doon, i'm just a curious lil good girlie, with crippling low confidence, and i never post + rarely interact bc most ppl be wild there ngl
even so, r4r can be a downward spiral talaga, it was addicting and indulgent esp for me, someone who rarely receives compliments and has never had a boyfriend 🥲 i'm not too shabby naman, i present and carry myself well. in all fairness, my r4r stint helped me feel more confident with myself so that's at least one positive takeaway lol
so yes, we met in r4r. long story short, he posted, i responded. started out wholesome, we got along well! exchanged photos and vms, and after seeing and hearing him, boy was i smitten—he's so attractive to me, dare i say my exact type 🥲 honestly the type that ppl would use to catfish or pose as so i was extra skeptic but he's the real thing naman lol
and guess what, it made my introverted, good girl, always-waited-for-the-man-to-initiate self step up?? she really went for it and hinted at talking about more nsfw things? (kasi nga so far, it's been wholesome chitchat)
and... so we did lol photos and flirts were exchanged, and i swear, it's not some nasty, wild af dialogue, it's more like playful banter between us, and i just felt that our energies matched each other really well <33
and 3 months later, we talk in messenger now 🫶🏼 friends on fb and all (verified that he's real through and through bc of this lol), shared a few calls, helped each other out with acads (we're both in college), got to know each other a bit more with a few spicy interactions in between lol
needless to say: he's truly my type, i am smitten 😔😔 he's attractive, smart, speaks and writes well, matching humor, passionate advocate/active student leader, a cat dude (lol), takes great photos, likes cooking?? and more. like a postetextbook IG bf, the kuya to my ate energy HAHA but tbh our funniest/weirdest similarity talaga is we're both prim and proper ppl that just impulsively went on r4r 😭
syempre, he has downsides din: he plays games too much and splurges on drinking outside, with or without friends, among other things. aminadong kaladkarin lol
but still, he's become my biggest crush and yes, ever since i met him, i have stopped r4r altogether—bc i think he's the best encounter i could ever have 🥹
he inspires me so much that i started taking better care of myself, smiling when he crosses my mind. i always think of sharing whatever fun, cute, good lil thing happened in my day to him and i always hope he's doing well <33 days are a little brighter ever since. friends even noted na wow, blooming daw ako recently, anong meron HAHAHA
we would talk about hypothetical dates and he would share activities or places we could go to around manila, or what he'd wear when we get to meet so we'd match, or how it'll be his turn to tease me throughout my stressful final year in college bc he's finally done with it (graduating next month! so proud <33 wow??)
it's all become really cute and cuddly, no? maybe i should end the storytime on a good note here, it's too long already. like for part 2? CHZ
but yeah, gentle reminder na all of this happened ONLINE. we have NEVER MET bc he's from the metro and i'm not (tho nearby naman, neighboring province)
now my dilemma is: is this my nbsb self being juvenile, overexcited, and frankly, delulu LOL.
kasi narealize ko: the whole story sounds cute and all but he rarely initiates convos with me? he will always reply but never start. parang vending machine that matches my input HAHAHA (if i send a fit check pic, he sends one too. if i share snaps of what i'm doing/eating/where i'm at, he sends his too.) also realized na i ask more abt him than he does abt me.
he's gradwaiting now and i understand he has his own life but he has more free time than me (going thru finals week 💀) and yet, i find time to send quick lil msgs to him. even just as friends, is it demanding of me to hope na kumustahin niya acads ko or mag-skl siya ng random kwento or what? to basically make an effort to keep the convo going?
i think factor na rin na never pa kami nagkita or spent time together irl. he did say he's more of a quality time & physical touch boy so he prolly appreciates irl interactions more than virtual ones.
i'm still busy with finals but after this sem, i'm actually considering meeting up with him and hanging out to gauge din how he is like irl. (o diba, i'm actually willing to travel to mnl to meet him, sana siya rin to my area chz) i felt a connection, albeit stronger for me than it is for him probably lol, and i think it's a good way to gauge how we really feel for each other so far? it's long overdue din i believe lol would you agree?
another dilemma is: i am starting to like him and i'd love to date him in the future. but is it wise to keep talking to him when i'm not really interested in relationships anytime soon? forda landi responsibly lol i wanna graduate first and get a job before committing to anything serious.
anyway, it's been almost a week since we last spoke. i got react zoned lol and got busy with acads. haven't heard from him so far. i see him having game nights on discord with friends, i'm so tempted to msg him but i really wanna see if he'll msg me somehow if i don't.
please slap me with reality ates and kuyas lol he's one hell of a totga if it ends now, but ig so am i? 😤
tl;dr nbsb good girl found a gem of a dude on phr4r and dare i say, hit it off with him. the catch is it's all online, and i'm wondering if i should continue talking to him despite noticing one-sided convo patterns. should i try meeting up with him as a lowkey ultimatum on whether or not i should continue our convo? am i being juvenile, overexcited, and delulu? lol
thank you for reading this far! 🫶🏼

2023.05.29 06:32 FroztyPenguin Vaginoplasty: my process for choosing a program

As I’ve live-posted about my vaginoplasty recovery, a lot of people have asked me about what hospital I’m at and how I chose this program. Now that I’m at home, I wanted to answer those questions publicly.
First off, I want to let you all know that I’m not the kind of person who does a bunch of research into my medical care. I often see people on this, and other trans-related subreddits, having super complex discussions about injectable hormones versus oral hormones or advances in surgical techniques and what’s happening in other countries for their medical advances. My mom is a nurse and I have had great medical care throughout my life, and so I just generally trust my medical professionals. I also want to acknowledge that there’s a HUGE level of privilege that allows me to do that. I’m white, middle class, have good health insurance, live near a major regional medical center, and have a great support system.
I live in Salt Lake City, Utah. It’s a bit like Austin, Texas, in that it’s a blue island in a red state. I could talk more about the general experience of transitioning here, but this post is focused on my surgical endeavors. It’s also home to the University of Utah Hospital, which is a teaching hospital with incredible amounts of funding and serves as a major regional medical center for the Mountain West (Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada). The UofU has offered vaginoplasties since 2018.
When I was considering the surgery, the UofU does online webinars where they talk about the different GC surgeries they offer. They have separate seminars for HRT, MTF bottom surgeries, FTM bottom surgeries, and maybe also top surgery webinars. I attended only the MTF bottom surgery webinar. They offer the webinars pretty regularly (maybe quarterly?). I didn’t personally think that the webinar was that helpful, because it mostly covered information that you could find out online, like the differences between procedures. The most helpful part in theory was hearing from previous patients who had gotten surgery there, but sometimes us queer folks can be a bit on the awkward and weird side and I felt like the particular person who spoke at my webinar was not helpful to hear from at all. She treated the webinar like it was a private appointment with her physician and was asking for dilation tips and the webinar manager kept having to be like “you should ask your physical therapist at your appointments” and it wasn’t easy to get any sense of what the recovery was like or what the aesthetics were or how sex was or anything.
Still, the convenience and in-network for my insurance made UofU a great option. I did have some reservations about the newness of the program and I had more questions and if I’m being totally honest here a lot of them were about aesthetics. I’m vain enough to want a pretty vagina.
The first step was a consult. I met with a PA for several hours and she answered all of my questions and gave much more in depth information about everything. It was exactly what I hoped that the webinar would be, but better because it was private.
After my consult, it became apparent that I’d have to delay the surgery. A good friend was getting married in Hawaii, since his now-wife is Hawaiian and all of her family is there. I couldn’t get the time off from work for that trip, plus surgery. I decided to delay my surgery a year so that I could be there for him.
During that year, two acquaintances had a vaginoplasty at the UofU, so I was able to get the inside scoop from them. They both reported very positively about the care they received, the appearance afterward, and their sexual experiences. One of them offered to let me see her real-live vagina, which I felt awkward about following up on so I said no, but I think I would have liked to see it and shouldn’t have let that hold me back from her generous offer.
After my year delay, I did the consult again with a different PA and once again got my questions answered and this time, the program had implementeda new part of the consult where they showed pictures of previous patients. They showed after photos from around the 3 month mark and a couple of photos from right immediately after. I thought that was the best part of the entire consult, and definitely the most reassuring. The vaginas all looked super natural, and I was fully confident in my decision to go forward at the UofU.
Meeting with the surgeons in advance wasn’t part of the consult process. I asked if I would meet them and they said surgeons aren’t usually met until day of, but that if it was important to me to meet them they could get that set up. It wasn’t important to me, so I didn’t bother. My questions had all already been answered.
Then the next two months were getting approval from my insurance. The biggest hurdle I had was getting all my letters lined up because I actually don’t regularly see a mental health provider. My mental health has been very good due to a career switch to a job I love and transitioning, so my mental health providers were a couple years old so it took some reaching out but they were happy to do my letters without seeing me for a new appointment. I did have to kind of call and email quite a few times on all providers to get those letters submitted. I just turned the letters over to the UofU and they handled my insurance approval.
I got the approval in January, and I signed up for the first available date with the surgeons that I wanted, which was the end of May. There are two teams of surgeons who do vaginoplasties at the UofU, and my friends both had Dr. Agarwal do theirs and she’s the head of the whole program, so I wanted her to do mine.
Between January and May, I just had two appointments. One was with PT to do some pelvic floor exercises to strengthen the area in advance and the other was another follow up with the PA where we reviewed surgery prep and I got a whole packet of info- what medications to discontinue and what I could eat the day before surgery etc.
Then I just showed up on the morning of surgery and you all know the rest.
I do want to note that while I publicly posted that I have BCBS insurance, starting in July of this year the UofU may be out of network for BCBS. Gap coverage may still exist.

2023.05.29 06:07 Throwawayyyygal999 I wonder what it feels like to be loved unconditionally.

I feel so empty.. I truly feel invisible. I’m 30 now and I’ve been feeling this way since I was a child. I thought it would end someday .. but all it’s done is gotten worse it seems. I’ve longed to be accepted and truly loved by somebody since I can remember. A friend, a family member, anyone.
Ignored, abused, tossed to the side. It feels like I was only put on this planet to make other people feel better about themselves or their situations. something for people to take their pain out on. I’m not sure. I’ve been trying so hard the past few years, but I feel like I truly don’t matter to anyone and I never will.
none of my friends ever ask how I’m doing, how’s life, none of that. my boyfriend doesn’t appreciate much of anything I do. idk if he even likes me that much. whenever I talk to my mom about how sad I am, she makes it about herself. my dad and my siblings barely talk to me at all. thinking deeply about this has really hurt me even more.
I know I’ll never get married or have kids. I am coming to the realization that I’ll never feel real love.. and it has broken me. I always choose the wrong people. I’ve never felt like I was someone’s true love and priority. there was always something missing about me for them, just never good enough.
I needed to let this out. Any time I have ever attempted to, no one acknowledges how broken I am.. and basically tells me my life is great and I couldn’t possibly be sad. Idk how much longer I can put up a front. I can’t find a therapist. I’ve been searching for months. None in my area or none take my insurance. I don’t know what to do anymore. My medications don’t work. My psych NP has barely assessed me and won’t give me anything to deal with the horrid anxiety. I’m beginning to think that legitimately no one cares about me or who I am, and especially how I’m doing.
I have a good job. A very good life, outside looking in. All things I’ve worked so hard for. But I feel so terribly alone. I hoped one day I’d finally shake that feeling, but it’s really taking over. I just wish someone would love me the way that I love. I wish I was good enough for someone. I wish someone truly cared about what I have been going through all of these years. I just want to get the love that I give.. and I don’t think that will ever happen.
Sadly, I’m beginning to think the only way that anyone would ever notice me is if I was dead. I don’t want to be social anymore, I’m exhausted. I don’t want to try anymore. I’ve been trying for 20+ years. I don’t think I’m supposed to be here.

2023.05.29 05:33 autotldr Russian state media calling for unpaid 6th day of work to fund Ukraine invasion, Western intel says

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 38%. (I'm a bot)
Russian state media and some Kremlin-linked businesses are proposing a six-day work week in order to fund Russia's war in Ukraine - without additional pay.
According to an intelligence update from the UK Ministry of Defence, the state-backed media and business groups "Have petitioned the Economic Ministry to authorize a six-day week for workers in the face of the economic demands of the war, apparently without additional pay."
The ministry also cited Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of state media broadcaster RT and a prominent Russian propagandist, who said last week that citizens should clock into munition production factories for two hours each day after their regular jobs.
The additional work day is marking a shift towards "Mandating citizens to actively make sacrifices in support of the war effort." The ministry suggested that this reflects a "Soviet-style sense of societal compulsion" and also creates a broader tone around the war as a communal Russian effort that all citizens are involved in.
Other countries, such as the UK and Spain, have recently experimented with 4-day work weeks and found positive results for workers.
Last week, Prigozhin went on a profane rant hitting Russian President Vladimir Putin for how the "Fat, carefree" lives of Russia's wealthy could spark a "Revolution" similar to the Russian Revolution of 1917, leading working-class citizens to storm the elite's "Villas" with "Pitchforks."
