I'm looking for 3 players for a weekly long-form Thursday morning (EST) game starting at 915am and the first session Zero is starting on June 8th, 2023.
I am recruiting 6 players in total with the understanding that 1 or 2 will drop within the first 3 months and there is room for 3 more players.

Howdy, I am prescribed ketamine through joyous and have been for 3 months. Saturday I made the mistake of leaving my squares in the car and they melted. I was able to freeze the remaining bits and hope for the best since joyous does not service on the weekends. Because the ketamine was melted, some of it was empty and other bits semi full and one square was completely full. In my ignorance, I decided to take the full square this morning thinking it was my last prescription dosage that didn’t melt and I could get more soon shipped out today. Well…….. I got to work this morning after taking the dose and noticed my mouth had gone completely numb. I decided to say f it and let it fully melt but my mouth remained numb at the 1 hour mark I noticed I was becoming more and more sedated and finally had an “oh shit” moment. I told my boss what happened, they got me a few bottles of water and I limped to my car and sat down to “enjoy” the ride. I have been here for two hours now, called some friends, caught up with them, and had some interpersonal delegations. Walking is a no go and I gotta say this has been one hell of a morning. (This was typed on a phone in the midst of a k hole so bear with me when it comes to grammar and such.)

I am an India qualified lawyer and I have been studying in Canada for more than a year. I have been observing some interesting differences between Indian and Canadian culture in the context of federalism, regional identity and constitutional frameworks. This is not a critique of the Indian or the Canadian system, rather just a few observations that I think are interesting to share.
India is considered a federation, but in many cases, it is a relatively weak federation and a stronger unitary state. India's states derive their identity from their distinctive languages and culture. But in many ways for the top 10-20% of the population and for the segment of population that moves around cities a lot, India is one country and not necessarily a federation.

1. Canada does not have a ''Central Board'' like CBSE or ICSE for education, rather syllabus is exclusively created by each individual province. The only exception is IB (International Baccalaureate) which is an international program. This means local provincial history is a substantial part of every province's syllabus. If State Boards got their act together in India, I would prefer more localized education that encourages learning in local languages rather than a Central syllabus).
2. Unlike in India, you can't use your state drivers license to drive around the country indefinitely. You need to get a new provincial license from the province where you are moving to and pay the fee. BUT, you don't have to take a drivers' test again as every province recognizes the driving tests of the other provinces. (Points to India on this).
3. Every province in Canada has a different INCOME TAX rate (not allowed in India) and a different GST rate (allowed in India, but states don't maintain differential rates in practice). Also the ratio of Federal to provincial split in Canada is 1:2 but in India its 1:1. Under HST there is a federal rate of 5% and a provincial rate (varies among provinces). Administration of the tax is done by the Federal government on behalf of provincial governments. Earlier, GST was administered separately by federal government and each province had its own provincial sales tax (similar to what we had in India with state sales taxes) Notably, British Columbia refused to impose HST Quebec has its own version called QST. Both provinces continue to independently administer their versions of sales tax. (Points to India on this for having consistent tax administration).
4. While not relevant to India (lack of Universal health care), every province in Canada has its own healthcare system and ''health card'' that residents need to access medical services. If you move between provinces you only have three months to get a new health card. (Points to Canada on this).
5. Roads in Canada are only built by provincial governments. Federal government does not even build or maintain the Trans Canada Highway which leads to the TCH having six, four or even two lanes depending on the province. (Points to India on this).
6. Provinces have ABSOLUTE power within their provinces. There is something in the Canadian Constitution called the ''notwithstanding clause'', basically provinces can override the federal government on everything if they chose to. This is how Quebec has continued to be practically a semi-autonomous region of Canada. The federal government is powerless to stop this unless all ten provinces agree to remove this clause from the constitution (Points to Canada on this if you are a Federalist, India if you are a unitarist).
7. Law enforcement is a little more complicated, I have not yet understood exactly how federal law enforcement agencies within Canada operate (other than Canada Border Services which guards borders). The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is the only federal law enforcement agency within Canada's borders but they operate under ''contract'' with the provinces in which they enforce the law. I am not how this mechanism works, but on a surface level it seems that the Federal government has little ability to interfere with provincial law enforcement, unlike how CBI and CRPF run amok in India. (Points to Canada)
8. There is no centralized power grid in Canada. Every province has its own electrical transmission system. This creates weird problems when it can sometimes make more sense to export power south of the border to the US than share it with other provinces. Power costs vary widely across the country with Quebec and Manitoba having dirt cheap hydro prices and Alberta, Saskatchewan in the West (thermal) have higher power costs. India has managed to centralize transmission, unify the national grid and reduce power price differential among states. (Points to India on this).
9. Social observation - Despite relative homogeneity in language and Western culture (Quebec aside), there is a LOT of emphasis on local community and hiring people who have studied locally. This is less true in Toronto and Vancouver, but much much more significant in any other city. Unlike in India where an IIT-K grad is recognized and hired anywhere in the country, the reputation and ''hireability' of a university graduate is directly proportional to how close the employer is to the university. (Maybe points to Canada?)
10. Professional certifications: This one is weird, but some regulated professions, especially in health need to INDIVIDUALLY register in each province where they intend to practice. What a professional can or cannot do varies widely among provinces. For example, if a ''nurse practitioner'' in one province can prescribe some medicines, in another province they might not have the same ability to prescribe. I think this level of regulatory inconsistency is the root cause of the pathetic state of the Canadian healthcare system, compared to what it used to be. (Points to India for having consistent regulation across states and not having barriers to movement, we already gave Canada points for having public healthcare, so that is not relevant for this discussion)
11. Elections: In India, ECI conducts all state and central legislative elections, but state election commissions conduct local elections. In Canada, the federal elections board (Elections Canada) only conducts federal elections and provincial election boards conduct provincial elections.

So in conclusion, to outsiders Canada may seem like a federation with weak distinguishing characteristics among the provinces, when you look under the hood, Canada is a country with a weak federal government and very strong provinces. In direct contrast to India which is has strong cultural distinguishing features between states but relatively weaker state governments.

I need your quick input on something important. I'm currently working at an internet service provider, putting in 44 hours a week from Monday to Saturday. However, I have a chance to switch jobs where I can work outside and have more flexible hours, not to mention a higher salary.
Here's the catch: I'm worried if it's the right time to make this move. I'll have to leave my current job without giving any prior notice, and that's making me nervous. Some people have said in the past that I'll go through a bunch of jobs and have long periods of unemployment, so that's got me second-guessing.
Right now, I spend my entire day stuck in a room, glued to the computer, dealing with customers via chat, phone, and email. With the new gig, if I can get my work done quickly in the morning, I'll have the luxury of coming home early instead of waiting until 5:30 p.m.
I really value your expertise, so I'd appreciate your honest opinion. Should I take the leap and change jobs?

I’ve been on an off with this guy I’ve been dating that struggles with alcoholism. I’m posting on here because my friends are so tired of hearing it and I feel like no one really understands.. Just this morning, an hour ago, he called me and said that he had a shitty day at work. He had his boss yell at him, his mom yelled at him and then his sister yelled at him. He said he tried to reach out to various AA meetings and his sponsor but no one answered. He went to the gas station and bought himself 2 giant buzz balls, 3 white claws and drank them all in the morning before he called me. For context, this hasn’t been the first time this dude has had a “crisis” and called me super fucked up, crying. What made me loose it was when he said, “I called you because I know the type of person you are, and you can put up with a lot of bullshit..” That made me so angry because I have helped him when he was at his lowest, acting like a complete drunk toddler about 3 times. Last time he really went ALL out and completely was a mess. I broke up with him because what he did when he was drunk was extremely traumatic for me. He promised me he would get sober and never ever do this again because of what he put me through.. and I know I am so stupid for believing him, everyone tells me that, but I wanted it to be real because we had a really beautiful connection. I know, I’m stupid.
I love him a lot but I can’t put up with this anymore. I’ve been scared of breaking up with him because of what he’s going to do to himself but I did it.. I broke up with him in a probably not so, “mature” way but I’ve just about had it. I did throw some insults and told him to fuck off and broke up with him. I blocked him on everything because he kept calling me non stop after that. I can’t help but to feel bad but I’m so tired and I deserve so much better. I have my own mental health issues, family issues and been having SI a lot, and this relationship has been extremely draining. I just want to stay strong and not worry about him anymore. I always go back but this time I CAN’T. Enough is enough.

I, myself, do not. I just want to get some clarity on whether this is a normal situation. I recently learned this little bit about his HOA in a side comment and we didn't have time for me to ask more questions. It just kinda blew my mind and i just have to KNOW. I was always under the impression that HOA board was a volunteer kind of arrangement.
Part of their HOA dues goes into a pool of $250k that the five board members split as a salary. I HOPE/ASSUME they are the ones doing all of the property management duties, but I don't know for sure. The idea that being on your HOA board qualifies for a salary worthy of a full time job kinda blew my mind.
This is a community of about 800 homes in a pretty rural county. Property is pretty inexpensive out there, so big communities like this on converted farmland or wooded areas is not unusual.
This is the list of amenities from their HOA website.

2. Community swimming pool with diving board and detached baby pool (described as TINY by my friend)

I'm British, I also don't smoke, or drink anything.
No meds, or therapists etc.
I'm pale, and have a bad diet. (Eating like rubbish) and i never go outside. (i'm pale.) and my sleep routine is horrible.
So basically, my dad died back in 2019. From lung cancer. I was 10 at the time, and I already knew he was gonna. You know. And after he died. I couldn't really believe it? but the grief didn't click in, until September / November, of 2019. But then at the time, I started going through really stressful, things like, bullying. Name-calling. Harassment. (These had happened online. I know it may not seem like such a big deal but it ruined my self-confidence, and mental health.) And it got worse in 2020, because I got abused online as well And my mental health, got worse to the point where I had urges to kill / harm myself, (I hardly have them anymore, which I'm glad about. Family issues. Stressed Almost constant crying
(The reasons why I'm saying this, is because it could explain why I'm dealing with the stuff I'm about to put down.)
December, 8th, 2020, was the time I got sick.
It was in my stomach, and I though "oh I'm just sick it will pass", but it just got worse. And it would keep, growling, and I lost my appetite fully and didn't even wanna eat. But the thing I realised was that I was stressed / worried about it. Because I though it was stomach cancer. (Still do.) And it would make me feel like I was gonna throw up,
And in 2021. I still had. It. No appetite still, no nothing. Just feeling sick. But I still ate, and drank everyday. But online stuff happened again. (Which I think made it worse? I don't know. And my mental health worse.) But then I started thinking my stomach was gonna collapse. And I started worrying more about it.
And in this year, same stuff. With my stomach. But in April 2022. I had a panic attack? I also had left arm aches / pains. So basically went downstairs, and told my mum about it. And we started talking, about stuff. And i stood up from the chair, and then all sudden, my head started feeling SUPER weird. And I said "mum my head feels weird!" And she said "your probably having a panic attack." And then i started panicking, and said "mum, mum I think I'm dying!!" And I went down on to the kitchen floor.and my brother said "your fine." And my mum said "this is because of your dad." And then she went to open the door for me to get air. And I still felt weird. And my hands were shaking. (I can't remember but I think my mouth /lips was dry.) But the thing is I felt like I was forcing the shaking. Because I was making myself shake (but again I probably wasn't. I did not do it for attention, I know that would of been bad. etc I was seriously scared, that I was gonna die in front of my mum and brother.) . But when I stopped my body felt like nothing. And my breathing was a bit weird a swell. And my mum was trying to talk me out of it. And then a few minutes later, I went to stand up, and go upstairs, but my whole body, and legs felt weird. Very weird. But then I felt the whole night, watching tiktok to distract myself. But then next day, my mum told my older brother that I was having panic attacks. That same day, I felt like I was freak, out and call an ambulance, because I felt like I was going to die. And I was worrying about my health. (Still do.)
and i am also getting forgetfulness. feeling like something is in my throat for a few minutes, and feeling sweaty,(doesn't last long.) when i panic over something. stuttering, headaches. weird head feelings, and weird feeling slightly under my stomach by my hips. dry, mouth / lips sometimes, and feeling like i will gag? on my foods / drinks now.
And my symptoms kept changing.
And now this year, my symptoms have pretty much changed like they have been.
but my stomach still keeps growling for no reason I lost my appetite, 2-3 years ago when this started, but I feel weird, like very weird like the weird feelings you get when you feel like you're about to end up in a hospital? I can't explain my weird feelings, and I feel like I can't think straight? But I can? But I keep looming at things without blinking for a few seconds and my face was just been blank? In a way, and I'm getting weird fuzzy feelings at the side of my face. and I'm scared I'm dying, or it's an illness. But the weird feelings do go away, but they come back after a few hours, or minutes, I know I need therapy, and help but the waiting lists. I'm trying to learn to cope with it. Because I know it won't go away just by ignoring it, and I know as much as I'm worried for my health know I been through a lot of stress, etc and now I been going puberty for a couple years.Anxiety feels like a nightmare, and I hate it. I wish I could stop feeling constantly weird, and strange etc. It's a very very weird and strange feeling and it's odd. I can't explain anything.
But I can't keep letting it get the best of me because I will just need to learn, to accept it as much as its hard to. I'll just accept it and I'll keep telling my mum for therapy or even see a doctor It's terrifying but i know I can get through this oll run around my house etc etc etc for distractions etc until I can get a therapist which I know will take long, but I hope I won't be like this forever and ever.
And I also have a white patch on my tongue it kinds looks like milk? And sometimes I feel a very weird weird feeling that something will happen? And most times I breathe I feel something in my throat lime its my heart beat? Or if my heart skips a beat or something when I breathe sometimes?
But also a good thing is, is that I can drink and eat fine, and I'm not in any bad pains at all, I just physically feel weird, and I can't explain the feelings. But when I sleep, I wake up In the middle of the night for no reason, so that might be from stress.
Does anybody else experience or know what I mean? I don't know why I keep worrying about my health I constantly seek reassurance and it kinda makes me feel a attention seeker.but i also have this weird cold feeling at my back (the cold feeling you get when you're sick?) but i have it at my back, and i don't have a lot of symptoms of anxiety and it's scaring me. are people different with anxiety and stress? do they have different things with it? because i know everybody is different but i'm still scared.
has anybody else had this? i feel like i'm the only person. i think i actually have a illness or something i just feel sick and strange constantly. but i'm planning on getting stress/anxiety gummies i'm terrified.
and i'm thinking about therapy? but i just wanna take small steps for starters.
and i also never see anybody with this same thing as me so i'm scared.
and my hear also makes a drop feeling, even when my heart isn't racing etc it happens out of nowhere, and it's weird, and when i breathed in, i like felt it in my throat? and i just feel awful, and weird constantly, it sucks. it really does suck. i just feel like i'm gonna die or if i have some type of serious/deadly illness etc, i just want it to stop. i don't even have a clue if this is normal or not. i just hope others have, had the same things/thing has me. it sucks i feel alone. it feels like something is wrong inside my body and i can't explain it i'm so sick of it. i feel like i'm about to die any second.
should i change my diet, and sleep routine? and get anxiety/stress gummies from amazon? (they probably won't work but i wanna take small steps.)

I don't understand what's going on? Why am I getting these weird physical symptoms? Because I don't know if it is anxiety, or is just from stress or some kind, of trauma? I don't know but I'm scared, can a doctor or nurse help please.

As the title suggests, you do not "deserve" a second chance. I believe that the average person in the West understands how society functions, especially in the digital age. The things that are respected, not respected, admired and frowned upon. However, I feel there is a higher rate of entitlement in today's day and age than in the past. I understand that we all have a past and made mistakes but it is people's prerogative to forgive you or dismiss your past. Especially if we are talking about things one did despite knowing the societal repercussions. I know that sometimes life pushes us one way or the other and we do what we can to come up on top but it does not change the outlook on things in society. You made on ônly Friends, got big, your pics went everywhere, regretted it, deleted it, your pictures are everywhere and you are struggling to find men who overlook it? You knew what you were getting into before doing so. Whoever chooses to overlook it, good. If they choose not to? Their prerogative. You were a drug dealer who had to be in that life because of numerous factors outside of your control, got arrested numerous times, now have a criminal record, left the industry and now can't get a job? It really does suck and I hope you come up on top but society is how it is and it is people's prerogative to give you a job or not. You are single and have several kids by several men or women, which has shrunk your dating pool? It sucks, it really does but it is their prerogative to choose not to deal with you.I see an overload of content online full of people crying in entitlement because they are in a predicament and reaping what it entails to be there. My heart goes out to those who got into certain situations, which was entirely and fully out of their control. I empathise with them, but I don't dictate society's perception and acceptance towards certain things. As for those who ignored people telling them not to do something and still went ahead and did it, deal with it. The example I provided, in the beginning, is based on a real-life situation. I have a friend whom I actively advised against creating Plus 18 content, she ignored me, created the account, got big, and made a lot of money for one year, and everyone in town found out. EVERYONE. Pictures got shared, got disowned, stopped making money as subscribers faded, graduated and couldn't find a job as a lawyer as a byproduct of that. Not a cultural fit they told her. This was 3 years ago. To this day, she still has not been able to white collar job. You type her name and surname online and pictures pop.She struggles to date, no one around us wants to take her seriously and she got super depressed. She blames society, I guess you can blame society. But guess what, society was like this before you made that decision, you had friends telling you against it to protect you and when the inevitable happened, you wanted to backtrack. The internet is forever. I am genuinely not against most things, call it a certain type of content creation... you do you. However, if the inevitable happens ladies and gents, do not cry. You were a grown individual to make a decision, be the same grown individual to deal with the repercussions. We can scream as much as we want that a certain type of work is real work, that c people deserve second chances in whatever but I believe that it is the worst advice you can give to people you care about. This is not a Utopia, people judge, discriminate, and insult, it can be a nasty place. The last thing you want is to make it easy for society to cross you and turn your life into a living hell. Take responsibility. Own your choices.

I'm looking for a revamp of the my old 10 year old 4770K.
I debated on the 1TB vs the 2TB HDD and speed of the drives.
Also since I do photo editing I do 32GB vs 64GB.
I do Gaming and will be watching the GPU market currently using a 1070GTX but will be updating.

If you, like me, is terribly excited about Dragon's Dogma 2 now that we've seen the game, scrolling the subreddit all day long in the vain hope that a year will pass in an instant, perhaps this will help pass that year, if but a little.

It’s Good To Be Home

First off, I just want to say how great it is to see the community so alive and full of excitement, speculation and expectation. I was, sadly, not part of the initial launch and excitement for Dragon’s Dogma. I did try the demo but it rather put me off the game. It wasn’t until significant pressure from word of mouth that I took the plunge, and even then it took me a good while to crack through the initial barrier of unfamiliarity and prejudice. But boy am I glad I did! It now sits firmly among the games I consider my favourites of all time, and there it shall remain I suspect.
Because of this, I am extra excited to be able to be part of that initial community driven discovery this time around, that hopefully isn’t ruined too much by over-zealous marketing on the publisher’s part.
Can’t wait to be there with all of you on launch day 😊

The Dragon’s Dogma Conundrum

The most fascinating thing about Dragon’s Dogma to me is the absolutely non-existent influence the game has had on the Western gaming industry. I specifically mention Western because I honestly do not know enough about -in particular- the Eastern gaming industry to say one way or the other.
So, looking at it through that lens, the game stands out as truly unique in a couple of key aspects:
· The vocation system. While I’m assuming this sort of system is quite common in Japanese RPGs, it is not in Western RPGs. “But Dragon’s Dogma is not a Western RPG either”, you might say. Which is true, but I feel like it is heavily inspired by Western fantasy and mythology. A wonderful bridge between the two flavours of games.
· The focus. Dragon’s Dogma… has got a story. While I truly enjoy the themes the game plays with, and find the world intriguing, I think we can all agree the delivery isn’t a home run. I would hesitate to call it outright bad, because it still manages to entertain in my opinion. However, it’s not the focus of the game, the core. That is the combat, the mechanical part, the gears under the hood, and this is something I find woefully lacking in Western-made action games.
If you look at the heavy-hitters of the last decade, games that have had a bigger influence, they tend to lean more heavily on presentation than actual mechanics. Games like The Witcher 3 and Assassin’s Creed: Origins. Attempts have been made at creating more involved combat experiences though. Games like Horizon Zero Dawn and Ghost of Tsushima. However, while these titles have, in my opinion, better designed combat, they’re still very surface level RPGs, in the sense of gaining levels, stats, equipment and building your character. They are ultimately more about telling their story in a very high quality way.
Then we have the games that are actually more mechanically focused, but they tend to fall within the ever-growing genre of Souls-likes. And as much as I adore these games -though fatigue has really been setting in these past few years- they are not the same thing as Dragon’s Dogma. A more traditional adventure type game, with open-ended exploration and emergent gameplay, facilitated by a solid mechanical sandbox and world design.
When I first started playing Dragon’s Dogma, it reminded me in a strange way of Zelda. To this day I can’t clearly put my finger on why, but that impression has never left me. Ironically, the one game in the last decade I feel most resembles Dragon’s Dogma in a way is actually Breath of the Wild, a game that has undeniably left a gargantuan impression on the gaming industry on both sides of the pond.
Here’s to hoping Dragon’s Dogma 2 will shake things up a bit and inspire game creators to make things other than shallow action RPGs with combat and character building as an afterthought, dressed up in million dollar budget presentations.

My Take On The Story…

There’s been no end of speculation with regards to the trailer and what the story of this second installment will be like, so here’s what I think; most of it wild speculation obviously.
The game starts out with our main character in a jail somewhere. This is about as much as we know for certain. Enter, the dragon. The over-sized chili-chicken will come flapping over to ruin our perfectly good Prison Taco Tuesday and start wreaking havoc on whatever quaint rural settlement we’re sure to be incarcerated in. In the ensuing chaos, the marvel of stone masonry that is preventing us from taking a casual stroll down the lush countryside will, shockinly, collapse – allowing our daring hero to escape into the night!
Being a video game protagonist, however, means we possess a triforce of courage’s worth of not caring about imminent death, and thus we will pick up the nearest pointy broom handle we can find and charge at the fifty tonne, flying, fire-breathing, apex predator in order to save Ulrika, who will dramatically find herself in the barbeque-lizard’s immediate path.
Hence, we will meet our end, but the thing about a cycle is that the ending is also the beginning, and so our journey as Arisen begins. This will of course mean we will meet our first pawn, Karin, who will advise us to go to the encampment and seek an audience with the manager.
After galivanting through the local slice of pastoral not-Italy for a bit, learning that goblins and their kind ill like fire, we will arrive at the encampment where we meet the captain of the expeditionary force, Lionel Catsby. After being sent on some mission by our feline friend we will be tasked with seeing the safe passage of a wagon of probably super important contents to the regional capital of Vermund. A city hub which is the center of a racial conflict between the Beastren and the supremacist humans, led by our moustache-twirling, usurper king antagonist, with a penchant for bling.
Evilus Blingius, with the aid of his right hand man Brant, and his \gasps in French** pawns, has seized control of the capital and ousted the previous ruler, Empress Nadinia. Not only that, but he’s also posing as the Arisen -hence the pawns. The big shocker though, is that he is not in fact the Arisen, he is a mere mummer! He is only controlling the paws with his blatantly evil (you know because it’s purple) necklace. Of course, his faliure of a malevolent offspring knows his naughty secret, and he will UwU his way into our hearts, as we work with the underground movement to thwart the ruinous schemes of Evilus Blingius, and put Empress Nadinininija back on the Iron Throne.
Ultimately, it will turn out that, in a twist that could only have been imagine by the brilliant mind of M Night Shyamalan, Evilus Blingius was the dragon all along, and Prince UwU has been a pawn all this time. The reason -we know understand- he always kept his right hand in his pocket, was not in fact because he was having impure thoughts about court sorceress Wilhelmina.
After a climactic battle we take our revenge on the spicy pigeon-toad and ascend the proverbial throne and all is well again. Except now everything is fucked and there’s a big ol’ chasm opened up in the ground and you know the drill. Get the wakestones, go meet the Pathfin- err, I mean the Seneschal and do battle. Fulfill the etneral ring, this was the true throne all along. The End. Thank you and good bye.

In January after doing my taxes I decided to perform a self-audit on my emergency savings. After some big purchases over the last couple of years my saving had dipped down to 2 month’s salary and had been stagnant at that amount for a while. I decided to set a goal to get my emergency savings up to 6 month’s salary (I have never gotten my savings higher than 3 month’s salary before), and I decided to make this goal my top priority. Doing the math on how long that would take me was kind of eye opening. Based on my current monthly contributions to my savings account, it was going to take just over 3 years to reach my goal. A lot can happen in 3 years, I decided I need to change some things around to meet my goal quicker than that. I lowered my 401k contributions to only take advantage of my company’s matching levels, I stopped putting money into my IRA, and I stopped putting money into my personal investing account. Also I am limiting non-essential purchases (within reason). This resulted in me being able to hit my savings goal in about 18 months as long as I can stick to my current plan. That time frame seems reasonable and achievable to me so I started to get to work.
I created a spreadsheet to track/visualize my savings info so I know exactly where I stand, and exactly how far I am from my goal. So far this year I am averaging about 1/4th of my monthly salary is going into my savings account (higher contributions than I originally mapped out!). In March I realized I could put the money into my Fidelity account, and switch the core position to their Money Market option to earn interest (and start tracking that). This month I realized I could use CDs to help increase growth too (gets me about 1% more than the Money Market position), and I created a separate tab on my spreadsheet to track those purchases and payouts. I am going to keep at least 2 month's salary as “cash” so it’s readily available, but will also continue buying a CD on a monthly basis to help things grow. Right now I just crested past 50% of my total goal, and I had a set reward for myself one I got to this point so I am very happy about that.
Now, the reason for the post: I am rather new to taking finances more seriously, and am far from an investing expert. I think I would say I am competent at not losing money, but probably incompetent when it comes to maximizing “safe and reliable” returns. Disclaimer, I know nothing is truly “safe and reliable” but figured the money market core position and CDs are within my risk tolerance. So for my savings goal and strategy, what are your thoughts? Is my plan okay? Are there other “safe and reliable” options I should be exploring? FYI, I originally typed this up with the real dollar values instead of “monthly salary” values so if the math doesn’t add up I messed up the conversions.

Hello Reddit, I am Beau, am a 26 year old Guy from the Pacific northwest that has been DMing DnD 5e for 6 years, has been dabbling in other systems for the last 4, and has had Roleplaying games apart of my entire life thanks to my dad who was a veteran of a hobby since his his days in high school
I have a deep seated love of stories and storytelling, and I have found over the years that TTRPGs are some of the most Primal of storytelling mediums, tapping into the same energy and need for humanity to tell stories that our ancestors did around a campfire for centuries.
Like those ancestors around their campfire, those around the table tell a tale that is a mixing pot of different views and experiences, of yes and and no buts, of tears of both laughter and sorrow, of a connection to a story that only can be made when its your story. And that kind of connection is a powerful thing.
I love this hobby because I love stories and the way they are told, and I hope to at some point create a community of people that share that passion so that I can make many more stories for the years to come.
I know that was a lot, but I hope knowing that about me will help you understand the kind of game I am trying to run.
Next, a intro to the setting and then some info about the campaign:
Farreach is a land cold and unforgiving, those that do not respect it quickly die. be it from man, beast, or nature.
Since the gods died in the event of world’s crux Farreach has, like the rest of the world, been broken apart, small villages and city states dot the land fending for themselves over the years as the ruins of the old world lay lingering as a memory of what once was thousands of years before.
But this is all about to change.
A young man, a Certain Peter Lebedev, has claimed to be the heir to the Throne of the Far Reaches that sits in the ruins of the old capital Alevichi. He shares the name of those once mighty Czars that ruled the land before World Crux, and using it he has called upon ancient rights and Alliances to Take back the old Empire with the help of the Sorcerous Dwarves of Blackspire,
From the Ruins of Alevichi hidden behind the Northern mountains and Dwarven Strongholds of the North Peter plans to retake his birthright, be it through force or diplomacy.
But not all accept his rule.
To the South in the fertile valleys that make many Farmlands sits the city state of Reusta, here a Rebellion is Brewing. a group of like minded people that care not for the idea of being ruled over and wish to keep their independences. While they do not have the resources of the Dwarves they have the food to feed an army and the call of the defense of freedom to rally men behind.
They will push out this so-called Czar and establish an order, a republic, where each town is free to do as they see best for them and not be under the thumb of one man.
And So a civil war brews between these two, the Torm sit to the north watching their southern neighbors fight and the villages between these two factions will be caught in the crossfires.
Including the Town of Whitefield.
It is a simple place, home to only 300 or so souls. fields of white wheat grow in abundance, children play in the streets and elders groan about the on coming cold of the harsh winters. Here is were those that will one day be called great call home. Simple folk that have done little more than live in this blessed place do not realize that soon fate will come marching to their doorstep and call them to greatness.....
So what is Farreach?
Farreach is one place in the homebrew setting of Tanriszdir that I have been working on for the past 3 years. This campaign will be the 2nd campaign I have ran in this setting with many more planned in the future.
I made Farreach as a place due to my love of Folklore and fairy tales and I had been playing the Witcher and looking into the stories and culture of the Slavic people at the time of creation, naturally it bleed into the world I was making.
In farreach you will find Dark Taiga Forests, frost covered mountains and sub-zero tundra. But warmer weather can be found to the south with rolling fields, Marshy bogs and Clay filled hills. Farreach is a harsh but beautiful land that only the strong survive and thrive in, will your character make their mark in this rugged wilderness dotted with small villages? Or will you be lost to the trees and that which lurks within them?
What is this campaign about?
Farreach is a place on the cusp of a massive social and political change, 2 factions, the Empire trying to reform and the independents trying to keep their own freedoms and cultures alive, buttheads as they try to take over the north to shape it in their own image. This story isn't so much about one side vs the other however, yes you can if you want to join one of the sides in the war, or even make your own 3rd faction, this campaign is less about the war itself and more the people being affected by it. The day to day people that have to deal with a war looming over them as they try to etch out a life in a cold unforgiving landscape filled with monsters of all kinds. The players will be starting as level 0 commoners dealing with small scale problems and will find themselves burdened with more and more responsibilities as they prove themselves to be the ones most capable of taking care of the North’s problems.
What are the Players' roles in this campaign?
The players, and the party at large, are Hope. They are hope that things will get better, that life will get just a bit less shitty, that everyone will get to go home to their families at the end of it all.
Because of this I as the DM will test and attempt to snuff out this hope constantly. PCs and NPCs alike can and will die if the dice will it, horrible things will happen to good people, bad people, and neutral people, children are at just as much risk as everyone else. And there will be a give and take of consequences constantly as every action the party, and the NPCs around them take, will mold the world around them for both the better and the worse.
This is not a campaign for the faint of heart, it's not a game of heroes that never fail or who will always win in the end. It's about being the embodiment of hope in a world with very little of it, of never giving up hope while everything around you tries to snuff it out. It's about moving forward no matter what because you have hope that things will turn out well in the end.
I know all that sounds fairly dramatic, but fuck it am a drama queen, it will get you a clue of what your in for if you join the game. That and I've had players I've tried to run this game with before assume that the hardships I would send their way was me just trying to tpk them and wouldn't even try, ironically enough losing hope despite being the ones who were supposed to embody it.
What kind of game is this?
I would say that it is an Open sandbox Dark fantasy, there is some hex crawling and a lot of what direction things go is mostly on the Players and their actions.
Some people would say that my games are Grim Dark, but I'd personally say that Grimdark is a shade too dark for what I try to achieve in my games. That said of course the games I run do get fairly dark and will go places that are uncomfortable at times, make sure you are ok with that if you want to join, and feel free to ask me directly what kind of themes I expect to see
What does this game do different from regular dnd 5e?
My games are heavily homebrewed, to the point I can't put all of the changes here and instead made a doc that I will later link that is full of rule changes and tweaks that I will be using. Consider this less 5e proper and more 5e adjacent
The Party will be starting at level 0 instead of level one as commoners and will have to come into their own (I suggest coming to the table with a couple extra character concepts on the off chance something really bad happens)
This Game will go from level 0 to level 10, maybe 12. This is not a story of high powered super people and is instead made for more down to earth low level characters.
All player characters will start from the same home town and will all know each other to a certain extent, this isn't a group of strangers coming together as it is a group of people that already know each other in at least passing
This Game will be connected to another game I am running, to help simulate the movements of the war around the PCs as they have their adventures I have 2 friends playing a board game of my creation to help give the game a more natural backdrop of events, things will happen that even I the DM can't always expect.
What can I as a Player expect from you, the DM?
A well built world that I have spent years making
A willingness to let things happen that can change the course of the game and the world as a whole moving forward into other campaigns
A genuine interest in telling a story and a desire to see your characters grow over the course of the campaign
Difficult combat, min maxing not required but common sense and tactics are
Difficult choices, this campaign is not a black and white campaign of good vs bad
A sense of humor, life isn't all death and darkness
a rehaul or creations of rules as needed to help tell the kind of stories I aim for.
a willingness to bend to rule and to use the “rule of cool” but still being able to use the rules
What do you as a DM expect from me as a player?
A willingness to take the world seriously
Not poking at the rules of the game to exploit them or disclaim a lack of realism
Respect for me and the other players at the table
To make a character that is grounded in the setting and type of story trying to be told
A willingness to roleplay and to be your character in the world
A willingness to let bad things happen if your actions or the dice lead to an impossible situation
A Willingness to still more forward with the game even as Bad things happen to your character(s)
